The number of electric cars coming from China remind me of the influx of Japanese cars in the 1970’s.
They were rubbished by home manufacturers but succeeded with value and reliability. I wonder if Chinese products will follow a similar path?

I imagine they will. I think that building reliable EVs is much easier than building reliable ICE cars.

I used to buy Osram Nightbreaker for various cars when they were top.

But these days, Philips Racing Vision GT 200 come out top in the Auto Express H7 Headlamp bulb test.

You asked about service costs - in my experience the pre-FL was very cheap, but I was able to get a "low mileage" service (seemed a bit random what that was defined as, but I never did over 10k miles in one year) - 1st was £47 IIRC, 2nd a bit over £100 and the third was going to be £150 incl MOT - all MG dealers. It was worth shopping around for it though.

I guess your 18k miles will be more but there really isn't a lot to do in a service - no costly oil change etc! And of course if you use MG service you get a year of AA membership thrown in!!

It does have a transmission oil change, my next service is for that

My only gripe with the PFL is the headlights. They are not awful but not as good as LEDS

I agree! Like oil lamps! Are there bulbs that would improve things? And ones that match the DRL colour, rather than dull orange?

Just chipping in to say: Not all PFLs have emergency braking, but you can easily tell from the photos. If there's a weird square flat section front and centre under the "grille" it's got ACC, AEB and LKA. If there isn't, it hasn't!

Handy if you find a dealer with more than 1 to choose from because you can tell at a glance.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I've just received confirmation that my Zoe is a write off, so I'm definitely in the market for a new EV now.

Do any of the MG5s come with auto breaking assist? (anti collision camera....)

Do any of the range come with tinted rear windows?

And where's the best place to get a spare wheel for the MG5?

Yes the FL Trophy I have is equipped with all the safety gizmo's it also has tinted rear windows. Spare wheels can't help you with I'm afraid......
