MG4 Trophy ER
Hello,

I have an MG Trophy. It has the latest software update as of about a month ago.

I have an iPhone 15 pro max that uses USB C. I have an official Anker cable bought on amazon which is USB-A to USB-C

When I get in the car, I plug the phone in often before I hit the brake and go into drive mode. The car doesn't recognise apple car play even for a while. So I have to unplug the cable and then plug It in again and it works (usually after the system ready). My partners Kia and my old car in fact, just connects to apple car play straight away, which is the solution I want!

The only Official Cable I see on Apple is Belkin BOOST Charge Pro Flex USB-A to USB-C Cable (1m). So I could try that but not convinced? I wonder if it's an MG glitch.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks all :)

Unfortunately MG software problem - you have wait until the infotainment is fully booted before plugging in the phone in my experience or else what you describe happens.

I find by the time I've finished turning off the 'safety' systems and switching on one pedal mode, it's about ready

Thanks for response. Is there something I can do to report to MG? Like is there a contact / URL to report feature request / glitch? Thanks

Unfortunately MG customer support is exceptionally poor (based on my own experience and many others on here) but here you go : [email protected]

Worth reporting it to the dealer too but just don't expect a fix anytime soon - if the are happy to sell cars with a known defect (the vibration issue on many X-Powers) without addressing it then slow booting software won't even be on their radar IMHO

If you get a wireless CarPlay adapter you should be able to configure it to wait 20 seconds after power-on before it tries to connect, giving the infotainment system time to finish booting.

I've ordered a wireless car play adapter that gets 4.8* reviews on Amazon and so hopefully that will fix it :)

Same here for AA. Bad luck if your systems all work correctly.....

In fact, the order is: brake pedal- after system startup the safety settings and then connect with Anker. Instant connection. Never went black.

Which one is it? And please report back if you started using it.
