Cars you’ve smoked ?

So basically he's saying they are both very good cars. But the Golf R handles better. Not that the X Power handles badly, just that the Golf R is better. And thats about it.
Considering the X Power is approximately,
depending on options £16,000 cheaper, probably more. And yes I know we always mention the price difference, between the X Power and other performance cars/EVs
But that's a huge, factor in why we buy,
X Power's. Bang for Buck, it just can't be beaten, and probably never will. 🙂👍
Bang for buck is a bit of a myth in the sense yes its built at a price ..

But we forget what are we up to now 8 gens of the golf so thats how many years of development into chassis design , suspension design and fitment, better computer controls etc etc..

The golf is a different beast altogether less weight VS the X power that by default the stock tyres are crap , heavier and a EV is a still a different car to drive..

VW golf is still a monster and a better car ( for the most part ) overall ..

The Xpower for a first attempt at a real EV HOT HATCH what it lacks now will be greatly improved next gen im 100% sure ..

That 2024/2025 MG HS loan car i drove around felt better in some cases than the X power just in stability and control .. ( agreed 100% different car ) but its proof MG are working on perfecting chassis design and suspension design ..

Wait for next gen MG4 X power i really think we will see 2 things higher price but a much much better hot hatch !!

If you are of the view that EVs are good for the planet etc etc. Then blowing off the occasional "fast car" may make that owner think , Wait on a second , I'm getting one of them " and thus EV adoption would increase. So it can be seen that not only is it satisfying and fun but must be seen as a ""duty"" to perform such antics, if not for yourself but the planet in general. Spin , its what makes the world go round! ;)

Never thought of it that way. 🤔
Good point. 😀🙂👍

My take was that he thinks, the X Power has too much power to the front wheels while turning, so you couldn't get oversteer by accelerating.
The car corners almost too well by itself, removing the "fun" element of hanging the back out.
Could this be adjust by software, reducing front wheel power when cornering? Maybe selected by the mode button.

It would be interesting to see how cornering compares on the track.
There's a difference in judging the cars by how much fun they are, to how fast they actually can corner.

Agree, to a certain extent. But to me personally, it's a very fast, fun car. I'm personally not bothered, it can't go around corners on its door handles. It handles perfectly fine for the vast majority of folk.
Most fast cars, handle well enough, for most people's talents anyway, including the X Power. That's my take on it, anyway.
🙂👍

Ahhh, entrapment. 😂
I had a boy racer right up behind my bus because I was doing the speed limit which obviously didn't apply to him. As I pulled into the bus stop he shot by with high revs, loud exhaust and hand gestures.

He didn't get far as he hadn't seen the speed trap 100 yards past the stop. I didn't wave as I went past as he seemed to be having an intense conversation with a couple of policemen.

Who's bothered about the first bend, or that eventually he would reel you in. Unless his bottle goes first.
It's the fact you've left him for Dead, that's very satisfying. And the fact you've almost certainly Pissed him off, no end.
🙂👍
Because that is not how people drive most of the time.

Judging by the angry exhaust noises when I let him pass as the limit changed, **TXR6 seemed quite upset with me today. People are going to go past if you don't do the limit, cobber. 🤷‍♂️

It was funny, as I passed him, I heard a huge roar - the vibration has never sounded that bad 😂 - but it didn't seem to do anything for him. All noise.

Twonk.

Here in Oz it’s the macho dual cabs that are the easiest…put 200-300m on them at the lights, reach and sit on the speed limit while they chuff up behind you and exceed the speed limit to pass you.
This is the way I reckon ! I don't want to charge about everywhere doing double the speed limit. But MUCH FUN hooning up to the speed limit. And … err … occasionally giving it some jandal on a passing lane.

One of the reasons I enjoy it. I zoom off at the lights, hit the speed limit, and then drive sensibly. I like to think some owners might think "uncle Stu told me EVs are expensive, slow, and hopeless, but that cheap little EV was fast, smooth, and quiet. Effortless. Hmmm..."

Well, I tell myself that, but it's also fun. 🙄

Hi All, been watching for a while now, but this is my first post!
Since the beginning of Feb 25 I've been an X Power owner, and it has been absolutely joyous, this is coming from multiple ownerships of late model Holden v8's and a very modded late 80's Corvette. In this time I've really only had a go at a few cars of note, and each time the beast has been somewhere between 80 to 70% soc. Wouldn't call two of them a smoking, but pretty interesting none the less. First one was a Tesla 3 LR quite even, but i ended it with my rear bumper about a foot's gap in front of his front bumper, have no idea what his soc would have been, but this feels about right given the factory 0-100kmh claims. Second car was an Audi RS3, they were obviously not expecting it, but were not able to pull a gap of any kind (to get in front). Both cases exchanged thumbs up, Tesla must of known about the X Powers abilities, and "just wanted to see", RS3 was properly surprised with raised eyebrows and a 👍.
I had a Ford G6E turbo falcon properly smoked (they used to be considered as fast), and I think that was a shock to them given their later actions.
I'm generally in adaptive cruise behind people, letting the car do a lot of the work... I've only ever put it into sport mode for the LR and RS3... still have to try launch control for the first time, glad I didn't have this car in my 20's...

Thanks for the welcome MG Clive, yes Perth WA. Probably right about the insurance, until I turned 25 it was borderline impossible to get insured for some of my cars... X Power is now what I consider as cheap, but back then I wouldn't have been able to afford it anyway!

To the forum, Steve. 🙂👍 Believe me you don't need to be in your 20s, to get into trouble with this car. 🤪
