Unless you interrupt the charge manually on the standard range, it will just charge to 100% SOC - regardless what level to start from.just wondering what's better for the battery on SE , more small top-ups of 30% or charging up to 100% each time ... does it matter?

A charge cycle is recorded in both cases.
I believe when they say this battery is rated for 2000 cycles, they mean 2000 100%-0%-100% cycles, or equivalent. For example, I'd class two discharges from 80% to 30% as one cycle for the purposes of cycle life. Recharging each time, of course, is included.when people talk about cycles - how is it counted, each time you connect to charge and add 30% counts as one cycle or it counts charging up to 100% as one cycle ...
I think it means you'll get around 115 years out of it. After that, you can get another century or two from it as a house battery, depending on your loads in 2130. Hopefully, they'll have sorted out human longevity by then. What that means is that for the 6000 cycles on Mk2 SE battery, I can charge it (3x52=156 cycles p.a.) ... 3 times a week for 38.46 years?
If you charge to 100% each time it will finish off with a balance (if enough time available) and then it will keep your battery in peak condition I believe. Is it possible to set the charge level to say 80% on the charge setting page or is this option only available on the long range model?
It does it all itself if left to its own devices. Usually takes between half an hour to a couple of hours depending on how far out of balance the cells are. Once a month is the usual figure quoted, but don't stress if it's a couple or more.I have an Mg ZS trophy connect LR 2nd addition.
Balancing the battery has always confused me.
So if I read this correctly, I have to charge the battery until 100% then leave it charging for it to do a balanced charge? and how long does that take and do I have to turn it off or doe's it do it itself. And how often do I need to do this?
Thank you for your reply. That puts my mind at ease.It does it all itself if left to its own devices. Usually takes between half an hour to a couple of hours depending on how far out of balance the cells are. Once a month is the usual figure quoted, but don't stress if it's a couple or more.![]()
Best thing to do is to check the instruction manual section about the battery care and charging.I have an Mg ZS trophy connect LR 2nd addition.

I charge to 100% most of the time and at 70k miles my SOH is 96%. I have mark 1 , and am very happy with its reliability. If you charge to 100% each time it will finish off with a balance (if enough time available) and then it will keep your battery in peak condition I believe.
The instruction manual for the LR says that you can do the same thing with the 7kW home charger. The car will take care of reducing the charge rate as it gets closer to 100% and then continue at a very low rate until the balance is complete and then stops.Best thing to do is to check the instruction manual section about the battery care and charging.
You certainly don't have to charge the battery to 100% all the time and some say that LR ZS should be charged up to 80% unless you go for long distance trip - you should have a menu option on your screen for this? (mine is standard range, different setup)
Once every couple of months or so (again, check the instructions manual online, can't remember) let the battery go to just below 10% and connect slow charger and charge at 2-3kW until 100% and then leave it for another hour after it shows 100% - that should be enough for the car to do it's own thing ...
p.s. don't trust me either - instruction manual is your best friend ..?
