So.... the charge port door "arm" has fractured. Not completely broken, but not far off.
Was thinking to remove the door, lay it flat on its back and see if I can dribble superglue into the fracture..... or possibly look at replacement.
Anyone got any experience removing the door arm ?

Nope sorry but I doubt superglue is going to be strong enough to fix it. You might be able to find a complete charge port assembly second hand, maybe from a scrappy?

I got the impression it is quite a major job to get the charge port off. Requires most of the front to come off.

I had to replace mine. The part was about 150 quid for the complete unit with actuator and I think I was charged a hundred quid by a garage to fit it.

I don’t think it’s an awful job just a bit fiddly

This was after hitting a deer in May ……. Sigh

I had literally had the car 2 weeks

But to be fair no huge damage

Replaced the front plastic faring and the charge port as both were cracked and had to have the radar reattached

Total bill was under a grand including labour and adas recalibration

If I had done the same in my old merc it would have been game over for the car

Sadly the deer managed to leave the road so no venison :(

The whole assembly appears to be made out of thermoplastic. i.e. the type of plastic you can heat, soften and weld together. My charge port was cracked 50% the way round and the door would'nt open or close. I managed to lever it into place while "spot welding" with a soldering iron. Didnt look great but has held up for two years now. I expect you could make a very strong joint by melt-welding the cracked assembly. Far stronger and more reliable than superglue.
