Get the vaseline on it (or light grease) as a preventive measure
I’ve got silicone spray lubricant in the garage.Supposedly Vaseline is not good for rubber as it is petroleum-based ... silicon spray is supposed to be better.
Scream at the sky..spray around the edges of the flap and the inner edge. We'll soon find out if it's the locking pin but I hope that would/should have been greased!! Do no harm to spray a bit on there while you are at it...Just fought with a frozen charge flap on my car.
10 minutes with a hairdryer and much thumping finally opened it.
Christ knows what you’d do if you were public charging somewhere.
Spray some on the locking pin bit and the rubber around the flap.I’ve got silicone spray lubricant in the garage.
All around the door, or just on the locking pin bit?
Didn’t feel like it was the door that was frozen, definitely felt pin related (but could be mistaken)
I shall put some of these hand warmers in the car when I get it. if you hold against the charging flap or frozen washer nozzles I hope they will melt the ice. Amazon product ASIN B08GCT8SXZ
we had the same , used hot water then when it freed sprayed it all with WD40With the recent cold weather I have been unable to charge my MG4 due to not being able to open the flap to get to the charge port where it has frozen.
Has anyone else had this problem and have a fix to stop it from freezing?
I am unable to put the car into shelter or a garage overnight.
Used to happen all the time on my Fiat Barchetta, matchstick under the handle to keep it proud of the door overnight was the simple fixKia EV6 owners were reporting this morning that their door handles had frozen closed so they couldn't get in their cars. I'm not disappointed that the MG4 has real handles!
Pardon my English but what do you mean with rhythmically ****ting it?Mine also froze at the first recent cold snap.
Made me look like a right twonk at the Tesla Fast Charger.
Casually and rhythmically ****ting it, til it popped open.
Liberal squirt of ACF50 (or similar) into the mechanism, and it has behaved impeccably ever since.

You can't beat a bit of anti-****ting spray ?Mine also froze at the first recent cold snap.
