Checking whether the PD052 update has been installed.

We still have a Dacia Jogger Hybrid and the battery only gets below 50% at full throttle. With Dacia, the battery is always kept between 50 and 75%, so it always has enough power and still has room for recuperation. Thanks to the 4 gears of the combustion engine, the combustion engine can drive the wheels even at low speeds and no excessively high engine speeds are generated. On slight downhill gradients, the car switches off the combustion engine and uses the electric drive to keep it up to speed, in which case it can happen that the car switches back and forth between EV and combustion engine several times within a short time.

Interesting MG video. My car revs much higher and is much louder than the car in the video. I will try and focus on the battery level more, but mine rarely gets above 60%. I just sat in the car with the engine running for 10 minutes but with 2 bars remaining to fill it goes into EV mode so i'll have to see if it gets higher on a run with level 3 regen. If the battery is not charging and holding charge that could explain alot??
The garage should just exchange it then? No?

Since my car broke the 2,100mile mark and the temperature increased by 5"c to 9.5 or 10 I have noticed a stark improvement attaining 53.3mpg over last several varied journeys totalling 5hrs. Also there is Air Con or just heating. Battery filling up faster and not dropping so low either hence no rev problems as it has not been exhausted. Happy Daze.

Called at dealer today and they looked my car up on MG computer and there are no upgrades from MG for my car.
So it is strange some dealers can do upgrades.
They offered to have car in and check it over with a lead time of 4 weeks, as car is running very well I declined.

I reported to my dealer and escalated it to MG customer service too - they made me wait 3 weeks to look at the car to tell me there was a software update, so they were going to do that, then told me the technician drove the car and that basically it was all in my head! If its not helped then I will be straight back on to them!

The company I work with has a partnership with MG (a fairly big one) so I will be raising it there too... Its such a shame, its a lovely car and when its 'behaving' its a great drive, but when it starts to act up, it has to be the worst drive I've ever experienced and I regret buying it.
* Update *

I got the car back - battery was much better after the update, but no change to the revving, so I went back straight back and took the technician for a drive. He asked me to to leave the car with them, this was last Wednesday. Annoyingly, I didn't heard from them until today (5 days) but only after I sent a very stroppy email about not contacting me, returning my call or emails.

Anyway, the update is that they are waiting for a software patch for my car, so they can run an update on the TCM (?) transition module.

I’m waiting for mine to “go in”. It was last in on the 3rd when they confirmed water in the NS door mirror, and checking for updates. At that time they knew nothing about PD052, but with my help/ insistence they are speaking with MG UK. It’s next in on March 10th. I’m hoping by then they will have received the mirror parts and are in a position to load PD052, and the other patches mentioned on this forum, which appear to have to be applied before PD052.

Shame and not good news. I got my car back today with no known fix yet. I've asked for an email to confirm what is happening, what was installed and copies of the software update sheet which they have said they will do. Still seems like a faulty software install to me but who knows??
Received a reply from the dealer so see attached. Still no solution but they suggest I contact MG direct with the case number.

Why won't they exchange the car for one that works?

Why won't they exchange the car for one that works?
Because MG have acknowledged and confirmed there is an issue with the model which they are discussing with the manufacturers to establish a fix... the technician at the dealership took another of the same model out to test drive and it did the same things... so they would have to given me a complete different model altogether.

There might be something to do with the special oil in a sealed unit which has something to do with the gears. Mine went wrong on day 1 of driving. Lights, warnings on dash board they sent AA out roadside assist. Some have said not enough or too much oil in box. Cogs to do with gears get flooded or dry. Just weird.

I contacted MG customer services and they have replied.

''Having checked your case I can see that the vehicle is awaiting a software patch from manufacturing. As soon as this patch is available it will be applied to your vehicle by the dealership.''

The blog the other night was interesting as well but explained that the updates need lots of other things changing to get them right and maybe some dealers are not not aware or have the wrong equipment which would explain why there are different results.

Because they probably haven’t a clue which ones work and which ones don’t. The recent video that appears on here with various MG owners and Miles from MG dealership didn’t exactly fill me with confidence. When it came to Miles talking about updates…. It seems like the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. Overly complicated and far too many update variables to know what car has what…… no wonder the dealerships don’t have a clue what’s going on.

Time to contact. "Rogue Dealers" on the One Show apparently. This requires as many of us as possible
Needs forethought. Anyone else with a suggestion?
Hi Jockster.
Rouge traders no longer exists, and Watchdog has ceased to be broadcast as a standalone series, it is now aired instead, as a feature in The One Show, and it’s presented by Matt Allwright and Nikki Fox.
As a result, something like this would be difficult to set up, and there are those who are happy with their cars, who would likely defend their purchase.
If only those on this forum were to contact The One Show, I doubt there would be sufficient to interest it. They tend to focus on more sensational issues
Apologies, if I sound very negative, but……..

Hi Clive, you are quite right that it needs everyone to contact watchdog and we both know it ain't going to happen and as you state there won't be enough complaints to warrant an airing, so with that in mind and with the letters I have written to head office and got replies refusing to accept there is a problem I am just going to wait for the contact to take my car in to have the update installed of which I am convinced will have to happen eventually but by that time I will hopefully have got shut of it and never to be seen in another one again.
