Has anyone had a dashcam fitted yet? Asked the Dealer but they don't have any details yet. Would it be the same as other MGs so Halfords could technically do it?

Read on another forum that Halfords do not install dashcams on any electric vehicles.

I had a Nextbase one installed by RS Connect in my MG4, which was successful, but the battery in the camera gave up quite quickly. Its turns out it is considered a consumable and is as such only guaranteed for 6 months and costs £35 to replace.

Sort it yourself Id say with a specialist. I thought the car would come with a blackbox or its own recorder

Blackvue seems more premium. Just make sure its back recording post service or picking your car up.

That is what they built in in 2 weeks

We should focus more on a factory software update that would use the existing cameras as dash cams. The hardware is there and we could easily use a memory stick in a USB port.
Like in all Teslas and BYD Atto 3s and Seals.

Are MG updates frequent? Is my first MG. I love this in my Tesla that gets new things very often

That is not what the interior mirror housing looks like on my UK Trophy model. Does anyone know if there is a power source we could tap into in the Mirror Housing. Its disappointing that on their most expensive car MG did not add the USB socket in the Interior Mirror housing as fitted in their least expensive model, to make dashcam fitting easy.

Still find it interesting that despite the fact that so many cars come with 360 degree cameras very few manufacturers allow you to record a constant feed from them. Rather than adding extra hardware the cleaner solution would be a software solution to enable the feed from the existing hardware to send the feed to a USB device

Has anyone in the UK managed to have a dashcam fitted, or know how to route the wire along top windscreen rail and down the drivers A post to the fuse box. I have the wiring kit and also have a full set of trim removal and other tools.
Or does anyone have access to a workshop manual so I can see where the trim clips are.
I am reluctant to just pull and see if it unclips as the parts might be difficult to get if I break one.
I am a qualified Motor Vehicle Mechanic.
I was able to completely remove the front end and dashboard of my Tesla Model 3 based on the various YouTube videos posted online. Tesla also provides a link to download the Workshop Manual if you ask for it.
