I'm only asking because this is the first time in 11700 miles that it's happened to me.

And I only discovered it by accident.

Oh, and a quick scan using the search tool came up blank.

I thought that you could only change between ACC or TJA in the settings on the dash.

Not so it would seem.

Let's say your already in ACC and you encounter traffic, a long press on the steering wheel ICON (on your steering wheel) swaps the modes for you.

Much more convenient than cycling through the main screen.

Another long press puts you back to ACC.

Apologies if this is already well known.

I'm still learning new things about this vehicle even after 15 months!

This was reported by @fnegroni in the MG4 SE ... R33 upgrade thread in February 2024. I have not tried it in my Trophy. It's a pity such discovered simple options are not easily accessible and are buried in old threads.

But does switching to TJA from ACC put on LKA/ELK, if that was off before? If it does, is LKA switched back off if control is returned to ACC?

Very useful for when the traffic picks up and you're in TJA.
TJA is lethal at speed. I passed a layby at 60 mph in TJA and the car tried to drag me into the layby, very scary at that speed.

Yeah I experience this often as well. I think the idea that the car tries to stick with the solid white line on the left, even though this turns away from the car, is probably the cause of this strange behaviour.

I wonder if the software is biased for LHD vehicles as there it would make more sense preferring the lines on the left, but there are also reports of the car doing the same in LHD countries so maybe it’s just implementation.

I wish there was a way to select the speed limit option without going through the infotainment screen
Star button on the steering wheel would be a great option for this. Even if it just cycles through CC, ACC, TJA, Limiter, something like that.

On a long near empty stretch of highway I enjoy TJA, let the car curve with the road, it's not a bad cruise, until you come up to exit ramps, or too many other drivers, then I don't trust the car enough haha

I doubt I'd use it much in a country like The Netherlands, maybe in traffic jams.

It is about personal preferences mainly. But as the car manual says, I should always be ready to take full control. So I'm steering anyway... Why allow TJA to continuously jerk at my steering wheel?

Agree that it can be extremely unnerving at higher speeds but find it to generally work pretty smoothy in conjunction with ACC in slow-moving traffic / motorway roadworks. Just have to be on lookout for it occasionally losing sight of the lines and temporarily deactivating itself - not that I rely on it of course… 🧐😇

I do not see any reason why I should use tja over acc. It just makes the car more error prone in its steering corrections. And at low speeds I prefer to do the steering myself.
I used it mainly for the stop start feature in traffic rather than the steering, but once traffic speeds up it's too distracting to change it via the menus. What @Bricktop X PWR has enlightened us with solves this. 👍

Yes I too discovered this in Spain at Christmas; a motorway using ACC suddenly went into bumper to bumper drawing. I tried TJA and, to my surprise, it was really beneficial. Having said that, for "safety" reasons it always reacted more slowly than required enabling cars in another lane to slot into the space !!

Yeah I tend to get beeped at when using TJA, I understand the slow response, but would be nice if the car could start a slow roll sooner and then pick up speed when it’s safer to do so. Oh well, always something to improve on I suppose
