Electric air pump

Hi ChrisR glad you got it sorted even tho your not 100 % happy you shouldn’t need to worry about it going flat now
I see you have the ZS fitted with Michelin tyres not cheap at the best of times but these so called eco tyres I think Are a rip off I have the MG5 and I couple of weeks back now had a flat which was repaired without a problem a nail in the middle easy fix but I asked the tyre fitted about what the tyre costs are mine are Bridgestone which are fitted as standard to the 5 and the fitter said he had never seen this tyre before and they do sell Bridgestone tyres so he rang his wholesalers to get a price and couldn’t they had not heard of the type either so I think this might be a little glitch In EV ownership these so called low rolling resistance tyres are not that easy to find it appears so for now watch out for the potholes we have them pretty bad as well in some parts of the UK take care

Thanks Les, it does seem to be a bit of an unforeseen issue with the MGs. I was a bit surprised to see Michelins on a budget vehicle (even though the ZS doesn't feel cheap at all) and thought maybe SAIC had got a bulk deal on superseded model tyres.

I'll definitely be looking at cheaper options when it comes time to replace the lot.

For the first time in my life I am actually looking at the rolling noise levels of replacement tyres, was never concerned about that aspect on an ICE, now seems hugely relevant.

The choice of original fit tyre will be dominated by the price offered by tyre manufacturers rather than performance. There will undoubtedly be a better tyre available when it's time to change although as always, compromise will be necessary when you try to balance cost, noise, performance and longevity.

The savings on low rolling resistance tyres are negligible for me as I only do 3k miles a year.
I'm more likely to change the tyres through age than wear, that's if I keep the car long enough, I've been changing cars at 3-4 years old for the last 12 years and only had to buy one tyre (the one I mentioned in my previous post) for sidewall damage.
