EV opposition in the media is ramping up

One of my previous jobs was at an nut and bolt distributors which involved handling nickel plated items. We were supposed to wear gloves as nickel is a potent skin sensitiser. Skin contact with nickel and the nickel salts used in plating operations can cause skin sensitisation. Once sensitised, any further exposure (however small) puts you at risk of an allergic reaction.

Mate of mine suspects he was poisoned by nickel fumes from his job, welding stainless steel. A strange neurological condition that makes him very dizzy. The Doctors are at a loss to cure it.
Same thing happened to my father once when he had to weld some galvanised steel. Fortunately it was only the one job he ever had to do with the stuff.

As a sheetmetal worker /welder I've welded all of the above sometimes in confined spaces, breathing in all sorts of fumes, before health and safety clamp downs and ventilated masks. Trying to prove related illnesses is neigh on impossible so I'm not holding my breath (bad pun )for any compensation awards. I am however eating lots of pickled onions/ gherkins etc so when they put me 6 feet under I won't leach anything back into the soil o_O

I thought this would be another FUD video;

However, it turns out to be a FUD buster. He's a bit annoying, but he delves deep and asks the right questions.

I think the FUD pedlars are having to change tack, now there's a lot more EVs on the road the gullibles aren't seeing the roads littered with burnt out EVs, stranded ones because they run out of charge after 50 miles, collapsed car parks or massive queues at chargers. Instead they hint at expensive insurance, lack of buyers etc.

Someone remarked on another thread that you can hold your breath between Teslas these days. I'm beginning to suspect that's what the green stripe on the number plates is for. I can't think of any other utility. To let Joe Public see how many EVs are all around him and that they're not bursting into flames or getting stranded. They might even be overtaking him.

I’ve just been for lunch here in San Diego and tried that after seeing three Tesla pickup trucks more or less together. So quickly trying just one breath every Tesla.
I was in the back of my son’s truck with the dog - I gave up the breathing nonsense when I realised I’d be panting faster than the canine in 26degC (a/c on full blast)
No green stripes or anything like it here as far as I can tell.

I have a 165 mile range MG ZS and whilst I charge happily at home, I would say that long journeys require planning in a way that petrol stops don't.

It's true that long journeys with an EV require planning, particularly if you want to find cheaper and more reliable chargers.

However, I remember planning for a long journey in a fossil car. I found a cheaper petrol station just off an M6 junction so as to avoid paying Motorway Services prices.

I think it will end up being similar - planning required to save a bit of money but those who don't mind paying more for convenience will be well enough served without much planning.
