Have I got a good deal?

Hello everyone,

Ordered our MG4 recently and just came across this thread following the oil leak issues. It's been a while since I bought a new car via the PCP/cash route; we usually get new cars via PCH but good lease deals are non-existent at the moment. I just wanted to see if we've got a good deal - there's a small part of me that wants to cancel the deal in view of the oil leak problem, but if it turns out we've got a good deal then I'll probably continue with the order.

The dealership has offered:

• car to be delivered Apri 2023 (we won't need a second car until then) with price protection should the price go up in Jan. That should also give plenty of time to ensure the cars initial teething problems are sorted out?
• we can change the colour by Dec 2022. We have yet to see a trophy in Dynamic Red and Volcano Orange - dealership will get some of these in the next month for us to view. Currently leaning towards the orange and order placed for that colour.
• £200 off the list price and a granny charger and type 2 cable to be supplied free of charge
• if order books are open by April 2023, then I have the option to switch the order to the AWD/400hp with no charge/fee. I can do this up to a few days before collection.

I think on paper I have got a good deal, hence putting down a deposit. I guess I just want reassurance from other MG4 owners/soon to be owners that I've not been shafted.

Seems like you have a good deal, obviously don't know the figures involved. The fact you are getting the charger and £200 off is decent.
What dealer are you using?
The fact you wanted orange and my dealer told me its only an 8 week turn around on orange cars, you could have it a lot quicker. Have you specifically said April?

Yup, with the two cables supplied free of charge and £200 off list price, sounds like a good deal to me.

What dealer are you using? My one has said 16 /18 week turn around for the orange, and yours is 8 week. May go to your dealer?

Perth MG, I think a few dealers have quoted 8 weeks for an orange trophy, been mentioned a few times in different chats

I'm going to keep my order despite the various problems mentioned on this forum. Hopefully they will all be sorted in the next few months. The free charging cable thrown in by the dealership and the degree of flexibility is what clinched the deal.

I note that Brindley MG Wolverhampton are doing £250 off the list price now.

The dealership I ordered from showed me the money they make on these cars - 1.5% margin if x number of cars are ordered and if more than x sold - 2 or 2.5% (I forget the figure now). Brain fog.
