I'm getting my Trophy Long Range this week. Just need to decide what energy provider to go with.

I'm getting a zappi installed. I work from home so house is definitely active during the day and do roughly 12k miles per year maybe a bit more than that. Any suggestions?

There is a sub forum for it … you may get more joy in there.

Most will say octopus - I’m pretty sure you can have intelligent with a zappi. I have a less well known charger so went for BG rather than octopus go (as BG has 1 he longer cheaper and is fixed but it was a nightmare to get sorted).

My only nugget of advice would be to ensure you have functioning smart meters with your current provider probably before changing. SMETS2 meters or SMETS1 that have been adopted if you already have older ones installed. That way you will have the flexibility and most, if not all, time of use tariffs require them.

I would go 10000000% with Octopus. Intelligent works with your Zappi and other members seem to find it very effective

If you would like to do your mental health irrepearable harm then BG is definately the way to go....

Octopus wins & you get £50 to join with my link

Nobody has used it yet, so it's new, untainted, stuck years in the www cupboard

If the car is parked up at home during the daylight hours consider a solar array + battery. The zappi can put any excess in the car during the summer. During the winter you can run the house off the cheap overnight electricity via the battery. See Rolfe's thread on the circular reasoning!

You would be able to use Octopus Go 8.5p/kWh for 5 hours overnight.
Your EVSE (charge point) is not compatible with Intelligent Octopus Go and MG won't release the Cars API for IOG integration.

Zappi is compatible with IOG.

Ours (Givenergy EVSE is not yet compatible :()

My contract with SO Energy expires in January. I have a Rolec wall charger. Which companies should I look at to get an EV tariff? that will work with my Rolec? SO does not do off-peak rates.

Is yours a smart Rolec that works with the ev.energy app, in which case more or less any supplier that does time of day. Check in the tariff box within the smart tab for tariffs it automatically supports.
Otherwise if a dumb Rolec, again any supplier as you can use the car to control the charging timewise.

Yes it is a homeSmart Rolec, and has worked OK with my previous MG5 using the ev.energy app. I have recently changed to a MG4 Trophy and the app does not recognise this car, an error message says 'We can't integrate with this car'. My current tariff ends mid-Jan and I would need to change to a standard Octopus deal, and then change again to Octopus Go. Is it worth the hassle of chasing ev. to find the car and then swapping provider? I do about 500 miles a month locally and charge at home, but also longer trips using Instavolt or Gridserve for preference.

Just leave it set to MG5, it won't care what car you plug in. I too used it for ZS EV and MG5, I then switched to Hyundai Kona and it did integrate with it so now I can see the car SOC etc. on the ev.energy app. It wouldn't bother me if it didn't as I know how much charge I will get in my cheap rate slot anyway, which is all I really need to know.

I have to defend BG a bit .I'm on their Driver tariff bought the charger through them and had it installed by a local electrician .
All went fine . Because I bought the charger from them and am on the EV tariff I qualify for free charge .My off peak charging costs get credited back to me each quarter .
For me ,very efficient delivery , installation, use ,and incredibly cheap.
I do around 17.5k miles per year.
It's currently costing around £25 a month which is coming back to me for around 8 months

Just have a check on the app which version of the tariff you are on btw. Not sure if you are effected by the freebie bit BUT I’ve have 3 times resigned up for their ev tariff at lower rates. They don’t tell you about it but it’s there if you try to change tariff.

I was on the original one .Now I'm on V11
There is an offer on if you fix you get a £25 Amazon voucher. Just changed again, was on v9, so think I’ll get it either way cheaper as day rate is approx 1p cheaper but standing charge is up 3p. With my use it makes sense as it’ll deffo use more than 3 kWh on day rates per day.

Lets see if I get the £25 in 60 days.
