Hi from Australia!

I received my MG ZS EV last week and am thoroughly enjoying it. I am eagerly awaiting installation of our home charger, but will be relying on public charging stations for the next six weeks. I have found that many of the simpler type 2 public chargers do not have a stop or disconnect button, or even a visible power or reset switch, and I can't see any way to manually stop charging and unlock the cable from within the car. I have so far resorted to using the emergency disconnect cable under the bonnet to unlock the charging cable but fear I am missing something obvious? Is there a way to stop charging from within the car itself?

On a type 2 fast charger you just need to unlock the car and disconnect the cable from the car end first.

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean just unlock with the key fob/door handle button? I usually stay in the car while it is charging so it is not locked to begin with. The cable auto locks to the car as soon as I plug it in and just starts charging. If I do lock the car and go for a coffee, come back and unlock the car, the cable definitely does not unlock.

In that case just press the unlock button on the car door before you unplug (Car end first).

If it's a faster "Rapid" charger you often have to stop the charge from the charger end by tapping your RFID, Payment card or using the app. But from what you say it sounds like you are using a slower 7kw "Fast" charger.

I think you have to unlock, then lock, then unlock again. When you unlock the door with the button on the handle, open and close the door or it will relock.
Some have said it relocks within a couple of seconds, so it may be that you have to unlock with the fob while you're standing at the front and pull the plug out of the car straight away.

Hi everybody, I hope you don't mind if I jump on this thread as my question is kind of related.

Does anyone know of a way to stop the car from relocking, without opening and closing the door? I have a rather dumb(ish) Rolec charger and of course, the car starts trickle charging again as soon as the doors relock.

So what I'd like to do is stop the charging without going out to the car.

Thank you

Sorry but no. The relocking of the car is a security feature in case you accidentally unlock the car when you're not intending on using the car, so you don't leave the car unlocked.

The only way I have ever found to stop the relocking, is to physically open and shut a door.

Cheers
