How rain-sensing wipers work On MG5 Exclusive

I can send to find how the automatic rain sensor works on the car. Please direct me the right way.

You turn (No 5.) to turn on and change the automatic wipe sensitivity.

The Exclusive has auto so that equates to the same as intermittent which is the first click of the stalk upwards. The rotating dial (5) sets the sensitivity. The sensor is the only thing you can see in the black part of the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror.
