Is ismart always this useless

This type of issue with the App is not just limited to the MG range, my neighbour was complaining that when the car required defrosting a few weeks ago, he could not get the Audi App to respond for his very nice EV.
Server congestion is the likely culprit when lots of people are trying to interact with the App at the same time.
The preheat function is an absolute god send in the winter time TBH.
Pity you can’t heat the seats via the App !.
( well not in the UK version unfortunately).

Yeah i have heard similar stories about apps from different car manufacturers.

Have to say, the only one that i never hear about and the one "my" car (ZS EV is the wifes) uses works more or less every time and very fast. (Tesla)

The car can connect to wifi, I have mine connected to the house wifi that is fairly strong on the driveway and don't have many issues with Ismart apart from it being a bit slow (but the mercedes me app is not much better and isn't free). Maybe the wifi connection helps when you're remote

I think the commands are routed through remote servers anyway and much of the latency is down to the round trips.

Yes, that's what i have been told as well.

The car connects to the "cloud service" that MG hosts, if you want to control the car, you connect to the same service and issue commands that way.

This is because, they then have full access over the authorisation of users.

If you could connect directly to the car, someone might be able to hack your car and drive off with it.

There might also be hackers getting onto the server, but that can be patched rather quickly, just imagine them having to patch every car by a recall to have it reprogrammed (Yes, it has OTA, but they never used it, which to me kind of indicate that it was either never finished and made working or it is unstable to a degree, where they might brick something if they try the update).

Yes, but your car needs signal to speak to the remote server. I have poor mobile phone reception in my driveway so by connecting to the wifi it doesn't have an issue (just the usual slowness). If I leave it just on the mobile data connection it sometimes does not 'wake up' at all as the car has no signal. If people are having issues it could be that the car has poor signal.

If you stand close enough it uses bluetooth. I understand is a local car to phone connection as I have done this in a very deep underground car park with no signal on the car or the phone and still unlocked via the app when standing next to it with bluetooth

I have a similar problem, but also a fault on SOS calling, which has also affected me being heard when I speak on the phone, the sat nav can’t find where I am and the clock is showing the wrong time. Took it to the dealer this morning and they say it needs a new part (telematic or something like that). Waiting for them to confirm when the part is going to arrive

It is on and I have switched it off and on a few times and have locked the car and it still doesn’t work. The person who worked on my car thinks it is linked to the telematic issue I have.

Hi all, I've found that clicking the second button along at the bottom and performing a 'scan' of the car usually fires the rest of the app (lock/unlock, heater etc) into life. It's of course a pain as you have to wait for the scan, but I've got into a habit of doing that and 9 times out of 10 it works.
yes, that works for me too..

It needs to be turned off permanently to stand any chance of the Sat nav finding your current location.
