I have an Apple 13 pro max and was able to bind my car (ZS EV 2023 model) with the app but nothing seems to function on the app. Any suggestions?

best to search for other posts about problems you are having and post your question in the same thread as people who managed to resolve their issues usually follow them.
When did you bind the car and app and when was the last time your app worked? Can you post the screenshot from the previous screen? Is that working?

I had the same issue with the 2024 MG ZS EV on iPhone. The solution for me was to disconnect the car from WiFi as the signal was reporting 1 bar even though it was right next to the WiFi access point in the garage. Works fine over 4G..! I suspect the WiFi antennae in the car is rubbish or potentially dirty/blocked.

Is there really any good reason to connect it to the house wifi in the first place ?

My Tesla is always connected, but that is because it downloads maps updates for the navigation and software updates for the car, but as i understand it, the ZS EV never have and probably never will receive any OTA, and map updates are done via a USB Stick.

Is there som benefit besides these 2 things i have forgot ?

As I discovered today from reading the manual there is no OTA updates so I can’t think of a reason to use the WiFi. I also drive a Tesla and the MG is my wife’s car so I made a big assumption there. It’s a fair assumption to make that the WiFi should be fine to connect to though and shouldn’t not cause instability.

This thread seems to provide the reasons and answers

Yeah i owned one for 4 months back in the summer of 2022, in that time i did not receive any OTA.

Bought the Tesla as a replacement for the MG ZS EV (Car was totalled) when Tesla slashed prices A LOT but now we have ordered one again, as the wife needs a better car because she is changing jobs and need to do 60 mile round trip for work every day going forward. (And MG slashed prices on it substancially here in Denmark to empty stock in preparation for the new model)

Was quite surprised to know that the ZS EV had not received a single OTA in its lifetime, even from 2022 until now 2025, and now when it is almost going to be EOL and replaced with a new version i feel like it's highly unlikely that it will ever receive any OTA at all.

This is, as you would also know, a far cry from the way Tesla does it, i receive 10+ updates for the car every year.

I do know that the ZS EV was only going to get OTA on the Infotainment, not every other module, but as far as i have been able to gather, it has actually received updates for the infotainment, but all of those have had to be installed by attaching a computer at a certified MG dealer.

It seems like to good old saying "Can get updates" is not equal to "Will get updates" when it comes to chinese stuff. Kind of deceptive on MG's part to have "OTA updates" as a sales argument, but then never ever release even one update.

PS.But yes, it should also work on Wifi i agree.

It’s disappointing but for an MG EV it’s not a surprise. It works perfectly fine as-is. So I suppose those not in a 4G or even a 3G area would need it for music, weather and traffic when setting off from home. I would guess at the service intervals if an update is available it would be applied. It’s a brilliant car for the money, not in the same league as my highland model 3, but right for what we paid so I won’t complain.

No no, i dont complain per say, the only thing i believe the data connection is used for is for live traffic if you use the built in navigation (Which i believe most people dont do, they just do Android Auto or Apple Carplay).

The only streaming music option is amazon music as far as i remember, and that is an optional extra, which probably also bumps the dataplan for the "simcard" in the car along with making it possible to log in.

I think i read somewhere, that the dataplan was only for 1 GB a month so really not suited for any big updates.

Not that big of a deal if they would want you to do the downloading of updates via Wifi, this is the same in the Tesla.

Oh yeah and the data is also obviously for checking status of the car via the app and turning on AC/Heating and so on.
