When trying to scan bar code of MG4 vehicle on MG App keep getting This service is not available at the moment please try later .Any ideas?

I've got a binding question. I've registered and logged in on the MG Smart app.

I've logged in on the MG 4 (Trophy ER) and clicked the "Connect Vehicle" button and got to the page where there are 2 small QR codes.

But...I cannot scan the 2nd QR code using the app. On my iPhone 15 Pro Max it's just tiny and doesn't scan despite trying multiple times. I can't zoom in and if I hold it closer it goes out of focus.

Any suggestions? Thanks.
 
Take a photo of it, go to your computer and login to Apple photos and find the photo (I'm assuming photos will be backed up to your iCloud account, like what happens with Google), zoom it up (if needed) and scan your computer screen?

And/or - is the car screen dark or light? (Force it to light theme).
 
May be, some trick with a surrogate diaphragm? Take a sheet of [black] paper, pierce the hole with a pin, and put the hole in front of the center of your camera. The image will get a lot dimmer, and it may seem blurred due to the long "shutter" timing, but the "Depth-of-Field" will increase a lot! So, having very stable hands, you will be able to capture the QR from closer distance.
 
Another trick you can play with "positive" lens — from "magnifying lens" to your granny's presbyopia glasses ;) . This will give you closer focusing distance.

Happily, my Gnusmas tablet was able to capture the small QN-code in a blink.

Have you ever been bound in the app?

If you have make sure you are using the same login details that you first used. i.e. if you used your phone number to log in use your phone number not your email address and visa versa.

If you have never been bound in the app then the previous owner/user hasn't unbound themselves, in which case you need to email MG's customer services with a copy of the car's V5 (log book) and proof of ownership so they can reset the account.
 
I go to bind my phone using the mg I smart app and it says to bind vehicle press here, so I press the button to bind and I get the msg saying this phone is already bound but I get nothing on the ismart app and it keeps saying bind vehicle has anyone had this problem and fixed it ?

Sounds like it is linked to a previous owner or the garage set it up wrong. Can you take it back to get it sorted..

Never tried taking it back seems such a little problem to take it back with

It could also be you have bound it but haven't accepted terms and conditions on the car screen next tab down from binding one.
I defo ticked the terms and conditions
 
Our ex-demo came bound to someone else's account from the dealer. They promised to sort it out for us but nothing changed. In the end I emailed MG UK directly and they sorted it pretty quickly.
The question is - is it bound to your account or to someone else's?!?

I've had a lot of problems with the ismart app on my MG5, if the car is already bound MG support can unbind it, they can also reset your account to allow you to start again. Good luck.
 
Ive took delivery of my MG4 this week , wonderful car to drive. I cannor get the ismart app to bind though, it takes my details from the qr code however the app hasnt recognised the bind and continues to request a bind , very frustrating, is there a technical help line or has someone experieced a similar issue and found a resolution please.Thanks
Mine arrived on wed. It wouldn't bind. I had to uninstall the app, restart my phone and restart the car. A few times ..

It worked eventually and now the app works. However, the car still thinks that it isn't bound when I click on the user button in the car....

When you restart the car, are you holding the home button till it reboots?
 
After a few days that I couldn't connect to the car via the app, I tried reinstalling the app, but that didn't help. Turns out the data plan in the car is 50MB and it ran out in the middle of the month... any way, I can't get the car to provide the QR code required for binding. Anybody have an idea?
 
If it is already "bound" to your account then you should not have to set it up again. Just log on with your existing credentials to connect. The qr code will only show if the car has not been previously linked to an account or has been reset in the case of second hand purchase.

When you "bind" the set up is as follows (roughly). The initial set up QR code (the cars vin details) links your user account to the cars registered vin details stored on the database and stores that connection.

App - user id/password ↔️ mg server user side ↔️ mg server vin side ↔️ car via data connection ?

If you lose the cars data connection it does not remove any account details just the ability to connect.

Is that your issue?
