Yes. It finally happened. I'd pulled up (Normal mode) at a red light in the left lane of two. After a while, something black with tinted windows and a throaty exhaust pulled up to my right. I didn't make eye contact, as he/she (it was a he, let's not deny it) revved, and started to slide slowly forward. I merely waited for the lights to change, watched as he shot forward with a mighty revving of engine, paused for a beat, and then floored it. Needless to say, I very quickly left the poor soul way, way behind. The week's worth of supermarket shopping I had in the boot took a bit of tidying up when I got home, and it was a minute or two before my heart rate returned to normal. However, in the 6 months of ownership, that was the first time. It was worth the two and a half years pension I sacrificed to buy the car, just for that one moment. Hah! Of course, I now have to die two and a half years early, but it WAS worth it!

Isn't that beat's pause a lovely moment

Even in Normal mode you are going to embarrass most engine revers, if you floor it in Normal I think the front motor will kick in anyway. I always find it interesting when transitioning from a 20mph to 40mph area and someone has not been happy you did not exceed the 20mph, you know they have been prepping for an overtake (as you can hear them dropping a gear), then with an effortless tap of your right foot you leave them in the dust.

For the shopping I would suggest something like this for the boot as you can strap it to the back of the rear seats to keep it and the contents of your shopping bags in place

Same here in the 20mph areas of Wales, just leave them behind and then have to slow again almost immediately?

At least it's two and a half years off the dribbly end of life when you no longer have a driving license
I’m hoping to die peacefully in my sleep, like my Dad did. Not screaming out in terror, like his passengers.

Thanks to Bob Monkhouse for that little gem.
