MG Australia capped price service costs

It doesn't have to be an MG authorised garage but you won't get AA breakdown cover elsewhere.
Seems a very different set-up (warranty/servicing) in the UK compared to Australia...its seems a third party (AA, the equivalent of our NRMA, National Roads and Motorists' Association Limited) are involved?

[ Moderator: spelled out National Roads and Motorists' Association Limited for non-Australian readers. ]

true, they only want it to be "serviced in accordance with MG’s recommendations" but in my mind that leaves me open to having to prove what my local garage was doing if I ever try claiming under warranty ... all the potential hassle combined with the value/price of AA cover, not worth risking it ...

AA is one of the breakdown recovery services - MG gives you 1-year UK cover after servicing with MG garage, worth around £100 (some are cheaper, some double that ...)

Conditions when we bought our ZS in Jan 23 (Australia).

7yr warranty
7yr roadside assist, if servicing carried out by MG service centers

2yr/40,000km service intervals.

Every 40k = $295aud
Every 80k = $810aud

UK is a total rip-off for everything ... we have to service every year regardless of mileage, 5 y roadside assistance (from memory) and 7 y warranty but not for everything... 12V battery is 1 year, some stuff 6 months, some 1 year and some 2-3 ...

To be fair, in Oz it is two yearly even if the mileage is low. And there are exclusions from the warranty, including the 12V battery.

The 4 year check is virtually the same as the 2 year check except it is more than 3 times the price. ($296.00 for 2 year & $907.00 for 4 year service) There are a few minor differences like replacing the battery and transmission coolant and replacing the electric drive lubricant but not worth that extra cost. All the detail is on the MG Australia website under servicing.

Just about to pick up 2023 ZS EV long range demo with 300km on clock in Australia.. Has 10 year vehicle & 10 year warranty battery. Need to service with MG but capped prices are reasonable

The other half has had her ZS EV since Jun last year and has clocked up 23k km. I checked the tyres a few weeks ago and found the fronts down to 2mm from the tread wear indicator. The rears were fine with plenty of rubber left. Had the fronts rotated to the back and vice versa.

Lesson learnt is that this car will need regular tyre rotations outside the 40k km/2year service intervals. The cars has Maxxis so don't know if these are poor tyres.

I wonder if they will honour the cap price servicing etc on my repairable write off MG4, when it finally gets here  I think it has something like 4,800kms on the clock, '23 model so the build date must be early to mid '23 I'm guessing. That means the first service should be 2025 some time, if they will honour it of course
