I did the binding on it the other day and it still thinks the car is in Germany, none of the functions work, it's not asked me to sign in or done anything positive, what can I be doing wrong?

You must give all the "consents" on the APP and in the car,
you will receive a message (on the APP, Message / Command):
"Privacy information Accepted": You have accepted . . . of iSmart and the APP functions will be activated.

Previously always on the APP, you must have received the message:
"Vehicle Registered": Your vehicle has connected successfully . . . .

On the APP, last icon on the bottom right (black circle) / Settings / Privacy Policy / Accept.

I find the APP very useful.
  • Vehicle status (updated every time): all the vehicle information, including the safety of having locked the car (doors and windows), battery voltage and internal temperature (also on the first page).
  • SEARCH: indicates where the car is located, useful if you are in a city you do not know and you have moved away a lot. It also shows you: MG nearby, restaurants, banks, petrol, etc.
  • Messages: useful for "Abnormal alarm", it warned me when it did not read the tyre pressure sensors.
  • But the essential thing is the first screen (MG), where I read the available autonomy, "ventilation" to heat the car in the morning in case of ice (max 10 minutes before, then it turns off) or to cool the car in the sun in the height of summer.
Finally, for me, the most useful: the "fuel tank" in percentage; so I can always calculate precisely the top-up (petrol) to do to always have a full tank available.
Tank capacity liters 36 / 100 x (100 - 60 example, percentage indicated) x cost of gasoline = how much to insert for a full tank = 0.36 x 40 x €1.75 (cost per liter) = €25.2 = I can add €25 of gasoline / indicative price).

Dear customer,

Thanks for your email!

Our analysis indicates that there is an issue with your vehicle's telematics box.

Please go to a local MG dealer to do a diagnosis.

Please bring the below information to the dealer:

Conduct the vehicle diagnosis, and check TBOX in a high priority,

Create a SNW ticket

If the TBOX is with error, then do a replacement of TBOX with SIPS, but DO NOT replace the hardware.

Thank you!

Best regards,

ismart-service team
The MG3 Hybrid+ comes with the MG iSMART Lite app, which provides telematics features such as:
  • Vehicle location: Find the exact location of your car
  • Vehicle status: Check the status of your car, including battery level and range, to make sure it's safe to drive
  • Remote control: Lock and unlock your car remotely
  • Navigation: Use the navigation system to get route guidance and estimated arrival times
  • Driving stats: Check your driving stats, including fuel levels
  • Air conditioning: Pre-set the air conditioning to a comfortable temperature before you get into the car

I refuse to have iSmart installed on my MG3 Hybrid. It was delivered, in July, without it enabled. Here in Australia the dealers are trying a recall to get it into the 2024 MG3s, i have declined it.

It's just a phone app, if it was enabled on the car it would still be entirely up to you whether or not you installed the app on your phone.

I was told that there is a charge to have it. First year is free, following years require a subscription payment. That is the policy in Australia.

Why not use it free for the first year and then you can opt not to renew the subscription if a charge is to be applied after that.

I've just read that there are 2 versions of the Ismart application:

A full version called Ismart reserved for the TROPHY ( luxury) finishes.

And an Ismart lite version for other models.

The functionalities are obviously different.

It was working perfectly up to last week, so unless they switched something off. I might need to uninstall and re install.

Hi, I was told to do the exact same thing.. emailed dealer waiting for response. What does it involve? Presuming it’s covered by warranty?

Hi - I have received exactly the same message - has anyone followed this up?
I would but my dealer is about 20 miles away and its a hassle taking the car and picking it up again

Easy to avoid an email so I ALWAYS ring or call in.

Yes it a warranty thing and no it didn't work.
Surprisingly got an email response and phone call this morning at 9am! To be fair local dealer is known to be very good.. so your app still doesn’t function? Was actually told by dealership that this had already been done by previous owner. They have someone looking into it

I pick up my car from a main dealer, and whilst being shown all the features, we could not connect (bind) the ismart app.. As the car was from another branch he had to contact them to get the previous owner to unbined.
Turns out the car was the M.G. Dealership manager who had it as a company run around....
Now you would have thought he would know better.
I tried to bind again today, but the app told me I have done to many attempts, and to try again tomorrow...My sales person knows of the problem and was going to speak to the other dealership...
I shall be on the phone , if it's not sorted...

Sales person phoned to say ,they have contacted the previous user. And as he was trying to unbind and I was trying to bind it caused a confliction...So was told not try the binding for a few days and also uninstall from my phone....Doing this. Let's see what happens

MG just sent me an email regarding the work that the dealer didn't apparently complete, so I told them in no uncertain terms what I thought of the car and the dealer.

I don't expect a reply.

Unbinding done by previous owner , all works now..Dealer going to have the car back for a software update to the infotainment system.
