Take this information as a rumour only at this point:
MG Announces Key Updates for the 2024 MG4 Line-up

MG has released a dealer bulletin highlighting key upgrades and changes for the 2024 model year (MY24) MG4 compared to the outgoing 2023 model (MY23). Here's a summary of what's new:

Upgrades for the SE Model

  • The SE now includes Sat Nav, a rear camera, and the active grille for the SE Standard Range (SR) variant.

Changes to Trophy and XPower Models

  • The following features have been removed:
    • Bluetooth Key
    • Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
    • One-touch up and down windows for all doors (now limited to one-touch down for all, and one-touch up and down only for the driver’s window).

Battery and Range Adjustments

  • SE SR: Battery capacity reduced from 51kWh to 49kWh, but range remains unchanged.
  • Other variants retain the same battery sizes but receive slight WLTP range increases:
    • SE Long Range (LR): 288 miles (up from 281).
    • Trophy LR: 279 miles (up from 270).
    • Trophy Extended Range (ER): 329 miles (up from 323).
    • XPower: 245 miles (up from 239).

Availability

  • All MY24 models will arrive within the coming weeks, except for the Trophy LR, which will launch after the remaining MY23 stock is sold.
These updates reflect MG's ongoing efforts to refine the MG4 line-up while balancing features, performance, and affordability.

So improving the SE but making the Trophy worse
Why not just get rid of the SE & have 4 variants of the Trophy; small battery (SR), normal battery (LR), large battery (ER), sport (X-Power)

LOL they want to cut cost more then that??

1. No rear light
2. No mirrors light
3. No rear central armrest
4. No front LED light
5. No passenger handles at early 2023 model.

All this is included as standard in BYD dolphin including full OTA and Tesla-style infotainment.

This should be the update in my opinion:

1. Rear and mirrors light
2. 12.3" infotainment with OTA
3. XDS as standard
4. Auto windows close at lock
5. Improve BT key performance.

Maybe the operation of the BT key has been so flaky that they've decided to ditch it? Ironically my early SE SR has worked fine with the BT key - even though it wasn't supposed to have it. (I've never actually used it except to test it).

On that basis - look out for this feature being removed from the app.

Already true fort SE model since summer. New ROM for FICM with GPS and ISA. Pic from a french MG4 SE MY2024

Even better: small and extra large, xpower

Wouldn't it be the MY25 models at this point? MY24 is basically over.
49kwh in Europe is my24 model. Thats the only difference I’m aware of (there are other differences but not 100% sure which ones). Agree for us it’s my25.

And it has saved me a few times when the physical fob wasn’t operational due to RF interference

They might cut the retail price, to lower the cost when new and align with second hand prices

This is a dumb thing to do because the will hurt the current MG owners.

If they will add equipment for the same price, it will be better in my opinion

Wasn't 2 yearly servicing mentioned as an update too, or does that already exist for current new cars?

In my position, currently looking for a seconhand MG4, I feel this damage has already been done - as I mentioned in my posting here...
Personally, I wouldn't pay £20K for a 2 year old Trophy LR when I could buy a brand new one (with more warranty remaining for etc.) for just £22.7K?

These look like minor tweaks for the remaining production for 2024, until the 2025 models are released with the promised solid state batteries.

Which would mean they are just running with the parts they have left and not reordering things they will change in the 2025 car (like a bluetooth key module and auto dimming mirrors).

Thought Bluetooth key was part of the TBox which is on all models
I'm sure I read somewhere someone added Bluetooth key functionality by changing the TBox firmware

I'd be surprised if 2025 models would have solid state batteries, more like 2030+ IMHO. From what I read on the Internet (so it must be true ;) ) ... "BYD and CATL have announced plans to achieve small-scale production of solid-state batteries by 2027. BYD specifically plans to install full solid-state batteries in 40,000 vehicles by 2030 and scale up to 120,000 vehicles by 2033"

Sounds like a similar path as they did with the 5 and the ZS EV Gen2.
They added features to the 5 only months after the original model and for similar money ( If I remember correctly ) then on the ZS they removed one of the best features of the car ( IMO ) the Sky roof and still increased the price to boot !.
If you guesstimate that the price of a full Sky roof is about £1,000 to £1,500 in the price, then removing it asking more for the car, is a win win for MG alright.
The normal process by other manufacturers has been this path, after the car has been in production a while, or especially when that model is nearing the end of its production run, they will add a number of features at a really attractive price point in the market ( usually to a base line model ) in order to regain public interest once again in the car.
It also helps to reduce the stock pile of equipment that could not be used on the future model.
