MG4 Charging port lights stopped working

Had the same problem during my second week of ownership....
Have only had the issue once.
It occurred when I reset and reprogrammed the charge request via the Ohme app. Seems to have confused the MG4 brain.
Lights worked next charge and have done ever since!
My MG dealership did check everything a couple of weeks ago.
Have to say that the service guy I spoke with at length before the vehicle was checked was extremely knowledgeable and positive.

Mine had stopped working after a recent update, but thanks to the info in this thread, now working again. ?

I used a little squirt of contact spray on the fuse to ease it back in.

Nearly dropped the bugger, putting it back, even with the long nose pliers!

I also solved the problem that the charging port illumination was not working. Just disconnect the 12V battery for 5 min. Then plugged back in and the charging port illumination works. It was not necessary to do anything with the fuses. Just disconnect and reconnect the 12V battery. How easy. Thanks for the advice.

So my charging lights stopped working maybe 6 months ago.
I had it serviced not long after, I asked the mg garage to check the problem during the service.
They said my charging unit was faulty and I would have to bring it back in to be replaced.
But as work was so busy I said for now I'd just live with it.
Anyway roll on 6 months, I just read this thread, I took out the fuse, checked if with a meter, all fine, put the fuse back in, bingo ! The charging lights are working again :)
What a weird (seems like common) problem, think the mg service department need to read these threads

I did drop mine, about 4 times ?
Luckily it just kept falling out the bottom

You can get a special tool for withdrawing and inserting car fuses. Makes things a lot easier.
Personally, I'm always leery of using pliers in a car's fuse box...

I just went in from the side panel, only way to get at it was with some long pliers, few attempts to get it back in, it was ok. Avoided having to take the front panel off

Hi all. My charging port lights have stopped working when I plug in to charge at home, I was wondering if anyone else has also had this issue?

Not the biggest problem, I'm absolutely loving the MG4!
I am chasing my MG 4 at 65% but no lights on port. The dashboard shows charging and on checking the large is now 68% so obviously everything working but no green lights on car port.

I know there is a thread where this has been discussed, but I can't find it. (If someone can find it for me, I'll merge this in.)

The charging port lights on my car have stopped working. It's a bit of a nothing-burger because they don't perform any useful function that I can see, but they're pretty. Can someone remind me what the fix is for this?

It'll either recover itself, or pull the relevant fuse (can't remember which one) for 30 secs or so then refit (but it's in the fuse box behind the interior trim so not so easy to access), or disconnect the 12V battery negative for 30 secs or so then refit. The latter method is easiest but means you'll need to recalibrate the steering and windows plus redo any radio presets etc.

Thanks. I'm not keen on accessing these fuses, and I think I'll leave it a bit to see if it comes back by itself before doing the 12v thing.

As you say @Rolfe a "nothing-burger"

I'm fed up with resetting mine.

I've done it 4 times in nearly a year and won't be doing it again.

They look very pretty and all that, but serve no real purpose.

Yes, they give an indication of what charge the battery has (or discharge available if V2L) but its all on the dash and more precise to boot.

I will be adding it to the list for my upcoming service, but don't expect it to stay fixed for very long.

Ask your dealer to update charging module. Mine did this a couple of times but has since settled from an update a while back. Could be a coincidence…
