MG4 - First UK dealer hands on photos and specifications

Since I heard about the MG4 not having a rear wiper, I've been having a look around at other cars. It does seem to be the domain of the large, expensive cars with long, sloping rear screens to have no wipers, I imagine because the wiper would have to be pretty long to be functional and it wouldn't suit the aesthetic maybe?

It's not just water that gets on the screen, but lots of grime from the road including oily remains from hydrocarbon fuels. I can see water running off but some things sticking.
I agree !.
This rear wiper delete feature has been tried by other manufacturer over the years and it has never been a great success really.
Both five door hatchbacks / crossover & SUV models are all prone to drawing up water and smuts from the road in bad weather conditions.
There is a air vortex developed behind the back of car as it moves forward, which will draw up mud & dirt from the road surface and deposit on the hatch in bad weather conditions.
The rear tailgate is always the dirtiest part of any hatchback / crossover in bad wether conditions.
Saloons suffer less from this condition due to the larger over hang of the boot / trunk.
Designers don't like their clean lines messed up with a rear wiper blade !.
A bit like removing a psychical volume knob from a info unit, just because it looks aesthetically more appealing on the eye to have a touch sensitive button, hidden in the screen menu.
That's progress for you I guess ? !.

@Miles Roberts CG could you please confirm that the first 1300 MG4s will come with a Type 2 cable instead of the 3 pin EVSE?
Also is it true that 600 SE owners will benefit from a free rear privacy glass upgrade?

I thought all MG's come with just a 'granny' EVSE unless you have done a deal with your dealer, same as mud flaps or mats.

I was offered mats and a type 2 type 2 cable - for £255
I declined the cable but moneybags me said yes to £99 for mats - something tells me I might have a fair bit of time to reconsider

I saw that info too. It was an MG4 Facebook group and was mentioned by somebody that works at an MG dealer apparently.
Mornings all. Would be great Although in addition to and not instead of the Granny Lead).

In any event, this the first my dealer has heard anything about it.

I don't see the need for a "granny" lead personally, I haven't used one with either of the last two cars but use a Type2 on average at least once a week away from home. So for me a straight swap would be good even if the Type2 was a cheaper item.
