Ok about to pull the trigger on an MG4 77 brand new but built in January 2024, 1 year old for $44,500 driveaway, best price available atm in Brisbane, what do you all think ?
Great deal. Absolutely go for it. I love ours. Indeed we liked it so much we then bought a 51 for around town.
We got ours in October during the big $10K off sale on '23 builds.
We actually only paid $39,875 drive away (new built July '23) but that's because they thought they were selling us an Essence 64 :ROFLMAO:
After we'd paid and all the paperwork was being finalised they realised it was a 77!
In the end they said they'd honour the deal even though our contract specified a 64 and congratulated us on our good fortune.
They were delightful about it.
We paid them back by getting the 51 a month and a bit later;)

wow amazing deal ! good to know everyone is liking their MG4. Coming from an Ioniq 28 the bigger battery and range will be a huge difference !

Ok so looking around at others, I see Cupra come out with some big discounts, MG477 or Cupra 77?

I hired a Born for 3 days and drove it around the Gold Coast and into the hinterland hills.
It was very nice and confirmed for me that EVs were great ;)
I also regularly hire a Polestar 2 in Adelaide if I've flown there.
The Born has more rear seat space than the Polestar 2 but not as much as the MG4.
It drives similarly to the MG4 and I'd be very happy with it but I prefer our 77.
I reckon you need to test drive one.

Yes both have advantages and disadvantages, MG4 have 10 yr warranty, Cupra have OTA updates.

Be aware the Born "connectivity" in Australia still hasn't been enabled. You can't connect to it with the App like you can in Europe. (One of our members in my other EV discussion group has one)
I'm pretty sure that also means OTA updates are in the same state as the MG4's.
I'll check to make sure...

oh interesting thanks !

I checked with the guy who has a Born. Definitely have been no OTA updates in Australia (though they are performed in EU) and no connectivity either.
The MG4 in Australia uses a Vodafone SIM for connectivity and the iSmart app works for me just fine.
No OTA updates for them anywhere in the world though.

ok good to know thanks!

Someone reported that OTA has been discontinued in Thailand. There was one other report of OTA but that appeared to be a mistake and not true. There is a bit of chat about it a few post before the one I linked to.

Was at the dealership today for the under tray bulge, they’ve confirmed the issue and ordered the part from the East coast, all warranty of course.

Anyway, as I was picking up the car I overheard them mentioning they always do all updates when a car comes in for service. I asked the lady afterwards and she told me if you bring the car with a specific issue they’ll update that particular part (say, infotainment screen for example) but when booked in for an actual service they actually go through and update everything. Do others have a different experience with this? It sounded too good to be true compared to what you read about (mostly UK) dealers on this forum.

Also found out I’m too tall for a Cyberster, although if I was going to spend that kind of money I don’t think it’d be on that car anyway..

What is the current update for the excite for Au/NZ?
Mine is 1100 R05
Has anyone installed essence SW on an excite? I am aware it has been done Trophy to SE.
And is there a copy available for R05 in case I want to go back?
Just curious.
