MG4 Seat Quality

Good heavens. Let's hope the MG4's lane keep assistant will help us navigate around all the future Chinese rocket debris in the streets! ;-)

This is great to know. My MG comes this week and it's something I've been hoping won't be an issue as it's something I'll see every time I get in the car! If you get any update please post it! Thanks
The new modified breather was fitted today so ?no more oil leaks. Plus they emailed MG UK about the seats and their hoping for a response in a few days. I will keep you posted.

Car went in for oil-leak. I mentioned the seats. This is the reply
"They have told me that they will have to get the Seats and undertray problem sent through to MG to see if they can sort them but they will not be done before collection."

has anyone else's seat been fixed?

hi to be fair my seats seem to be ok I am thinking the covers will protect the seats and lighten up the cabin.as they look like they could mark up easily and not as hard wearing as our vw golf gti was.have been offered a good discount £199 includes the centre arm rest.if not up to scratch money back guarantee.

Do you have any photos or links of these covers your looking at.

Hi they are on the Ali express site just put in mgev4 seat covers some seem to charge more but are the same.they come four colour ways.black b/orange b/green the one I’m looking at is the black and grey. Arm rest has same choice as I said will protect seats but is not for everyone if I had the trophy there would be no need as they seem to be better

@Leni16 was spot on. The dealership had the car for a few hours and tried to adjust the springs that hold the seat fabric in place but made no difference to the creases.
They reckon it’s the stitching. So will contact MG Motors UK to order a full new set. Wonder how long they will take to get. Still I can use the car with the reassurance something is getting done.

I now have a massive crease on the offside base bolster of the drivers seat after 4000 miles.
My dealer is contacting MG about a separate issue with the seats. That being the side airbag bulges which they are saying may result in the both front seats being replaced.
If they don't get replaced because of that I'll follow up on the first issue.

Can you post a pic?

As has been posted by other members the seats seemed to have suffered as part of the general effort to keep the costs down.
Certainly a few posts stating that the seats in the 5 are superior, so a conscious decision by MG to change them

I find I catch this bolster when I'm getting out of the car. It sticks up quite high compared to my old Skoda. I wonder does that contribute to it getting worse. Something I'll keep an eye on for my car. The seats have been fine on the car I got but long term we'll see. I think there is just a year warranty on the seats so it's something to keep track of in the first year for sure.

That’s not good. Shame - the seats look nice.
