MG4 Software Update Thread

Drop down from the left or the right , it doesnt work from the center of the screen where there is the climate control info.
Thanks. As you say it doesn't work from the middle, which is where I used it from.

Had my 2 year yesterday, asked them to look at BT pairing, heater needing high temp, LKA shortcut, ACC 1mph increments. They did an update but only to R59 - details I can see below, don't know if any other modules were updated.

Curiously the lady dealing with the paperwork said when they hooked it up to the computer they found a strange or weird (can't remember the word she used now) software version was installed which they hadn't seen before so have reported it to MG and will get back to me if anything else needs doing. Not heard anyone else mention this before, the only thing I've done is apply the maps update by USB, but the system flagged something amiss

I do now have the ACC update and LKA shortcut on the dropdown. I also thought the car seemed to feed in the regen a bit more gently taking and extra second or 2 to reach the level it wants to apply, so coming right off the accelerator and ACC slowing for the car in front seemed noticeably smoother - even on regen 3.

Took the car to the dealer to have them update my communications box so I can use i-Smart (it's not active by default seems like in South America) and it came back with R63, which they did not even mention. Nice to see that I now have temp bar at the top of the Android Auto screen, and LKA quick access, however it seems to be static. I can't pull down the AC menu or the config menu form the top when I'm in Android Auto. So seems to be of limited usability really. Oh well.

yeah supposedly a limitation of the underlying Android version won't let the pull down menus work over the top of AA from R59 onwards - although the temp widget that pops up if you have a star button set to HVAC does appear over the top

Exactly! And now the pop up AC widget stays on until you press star button again. If I remember correctly, in the previous version (I think I had R40) it would disappear after a couple of secs.

Hello everyone, do you think it is possible to activate... automatic window closing like the video?

In the SE the popup widget always stayed open until you pressed the star button again. To me that makes more sense, otherwise when you use the right joystick are you controlling media or HVAC if the popup has disappeared? 🤷‍♂️

I just developed the habit of pressing the star button again when I've finished adjusting the HVAC, just like you presumably do. I've never found it a problem.

I don't use HVAC on a star button - but I used to when I first got the car, and that was what I did. (Now that the HVAC control seems stable and working properly I just set-and-forget, so no need for a star button assignment - they are used for regen on right and drive mode on left). :)

You never knew until you tried to use it again, and then you'd remember 😅

I’ve tried it tonight on an SE, and it works just fine. It’s a bit faster than R59.

The update for the luxury seems different. Should the downloaded file be extracted, and does the AVN_MPU folder need to be placed in the root directory of the USB stick? With the R38 update, I first updated AVN-VIP and then AVN-SOC. How do I proceed with the R63 update? Thanks! :)
