MG4 Software Update Thread

you can set the temperature and fan speed etc and switch the a/c off but there isn’t a specific button for the heater. It’s either a/c on or a/c off and a given temperature.

Surely if you want the heater to not work you can either take the fuse out or lower the temperature in the cabin.

The A/c doesn’t just cool the air. It also dehumidifies it. Which helps with demisting the windscreen.
I think you've just about agreed then. Switch the a/c off. Set the temp, fan on auto. Works for me.?

I think he simply wants the aircon not to be running when the temp is set so high that the main point is to heat the car. Which is entirely possible, and I haven't noticed the aircon turning itself on after I've turned it off.

I get it now.

A/c will turn itself back on if you press Auto

but if you press auto, and then turn the A/c off, all other functions will still be automatically adjusted and the A/c will be off.

I keep my a/c settings on auto and eco at all times and it seems to be just fine.

Just come back from having mine updated to R46. What a difference

1. Favourite radio stations are now stored with the radio station name in big font !
2. The left star button (Drive mode, 360 Cam etc) no longer pops up the AC when pressed .
3. No little pop up message when you enable / disable the AC using the right star button
4. Opening the AC with the right star button bring up a new style AC pop up. Which stays until you press the button again
5, BT remains connected to my phone
6. My heating seems to pump warm air at the temp it should (not sure if they updated anything else)

The whole layout seems more intuitive and easier to use, just how it should have been at the outset.

Yet to fully play around, i'll do that tomorrow, but this version is a massive positive leap forward in my view from R33.

It's been a drawn out battle with my car, but I now feel I have the car I intended to buy. Onwards with some subtle & sympathetic mods.

Let us know if Bluetooth stays paired after a week or two , only then will we know it's fixed the issue.?

I've never had my Bluetooth disconnect on r30 or r46. How are you noticing it disconnecting, are you streaming music over Bluetooth rather than a usb cable. I exclusively use android auto

I would connect as normal and it would stay connected for a day or so, then randomly disconnect from the phone after about three starts of the car. Main use is AA for me too.

I'll update you. But I have so far deliberately stopped and started the car abut six times to test and all worked as expected. It's a long drive back from Gloucester for me so plenty of opportunity to do so.

It just randomly asks you to re pair the phone over and over . It can stay paired for days on end then lose it again , very annoying, no pattern to it .

That's weird how some are/aren't affected. I lied to mg about my Bluetooth being iffy to add weight to get the r46 update but I never had that particular issue. Like others I'm pi$$ed about lka and front collision assist not staying off although rear collision assist has stayed off since disabling for me.

Just for information, "pissed" isn't on the banned words list, so you don't have to disguise it. (If something is on the banned words list you need to asterisk it out completely, or just type it and let the forum software censor it for you. You shouldn't partly-mask a banned word.)

TBH if my Bluetooth didn't play up then I probably wouldn't bother with getting the R46 update . Other than that mine's pretty good and I prefer the HVAC screen to that new one .

The new HVAC graphics and layout do look rather cheap & clunky compared to older firmware revisions but it feels easier to me to adjust fan speeds and temperatures

I’m also on R46, can you test the following?

At normal home screen (Fan off)
Press RH star
Mini AC menu pops up
Press joystick in to turn on AC in auto mode
In the background the full AC menu opens
Press the RH star and the mini AC menu closes
The full AC menu stays open instead of reverting to the home screen

I did watch a video on YouTube in Spanish and it looked like the climate control menu disappeared for them.

I think the climate menu was always meant to stay up until you cancelled it. It has always been that way in the SE. I think it was a bug in the Trophy, which they have fixed, but in the mean time people had got used to the way it was!

I think this is different. The mini menu disappears on star button click, but the full A/c page stays open after pressing the auto shortcut on the mini menu.

Just back from being out and found:

Upon leaving... BT connected the car to phone, no issues
After leaving the restaurant, BT connected the car to phone, no issues
After leaving friends house, BT connected the car to phone, no issues
Arrived home, locked the car and tested one more, BT connected the car to phone, no issues

So far so good with R46 and my Pixel Pro 6 on Android 13
