MG4 Software Update Thread

yea I deleted it, but instead the other two files, should they also be deleted?, there is an md5 file and another one that I don't remember the name
If it's the trophy like I have you just extract the files as is to the root of your drive.

So it should be DRIVE:/AVN_MPU FOLDER which has the ota zip. And the md4/VIP in the root next to the Avn folder

so it has to be like this?(i deleted the hidden desktop.ini file)

if you are currently activated your activation should be fine. only new activations currently don't work because the servers are down (i hope).
if you are currently NOT activated, than downgrading will make no difference

Spoke with MG they said servers are not down and go to a dealership to sort. So I wonder if going to R63 changes/breaks something in the activation (or requires that TBOX Update) for the right parameters and then something behind the scenes is out of whack.

Im going to try book in dealer to get them to update as back on R59 but same issue, when it wasn't before going to 63.

Anyone have the issue without going to 63?
 
I find it hard to believe that a system update would change parameters to something that isnt working with the version you are updating too.
So, if they update parameters, those parameters should work fine with the updated software version.
Or, dont change any parameters (requiring some manual work to make the parameters right for the actual version) but going back to the old version should be no problem.
Changing the "parameters" to something that is not working with the new software ant not working with the old software is stupid.
Also, i would think that, for example, the urls for the weather app are simply hardcoded in the app.
I think that the weather app was working fine after the update, but stopped working a couple of days ago.

The R63 Guide for dealers does state upgrading the usb then you need to configure with SIPs. So it's possible I guess

Weird, they seem down since Christmas Eve and weather and "User" from the car don't work anymore, but iSMART app is fine...

They need to push investigations and fix everything now because I don't now if we can activate the unit after a full reset!
 
@Mouss when did you (or your dealer) update to R63? i too think that until tuesday the onlineservices were fine with the r63 update i did myself.
R63 update from dealer, December 2nd.
SIPS updates December, 19th, to fix the charging scrollbar.
After a coupole reset, my issue with Weather and "User" app on the car was fixed.
Since December 24th, Weather and "User" are down, everything else was working (Amazon music, GPS trafic...) but since yesterday, I used all data so I don't have anything working. More : I share data from my phone and the unit don't seem connected to internet 😭😭😭
 
It’s been three days now… I’m starting to think it’s not just a simple server outage.
Maybe the data volume has simply been used up? In the German forum, there’s talk about it being limited to only 1GB per month, and when it’s used up, features like weather and similar services stop working.

1GB per month for 3 years

 
R63 update from dealer, December 2nd.

It is odd maybe something did break somewhere but they've not picked up until dealers start complaining via official channels?

The server status thing doesn't necessarily seem accurate given it shows last up time was in October.

My Ismart is still linked and plugged into my home assistant but obvious Weather maps etc don't work but I don't use anyway.
