MG4 Software Update Thread

thanks a lot for the upgrade info. following the instrucion I could upgrade from R30 to R63 , Luxury23 , but I could upgrade only the AVN MPU about MCU got error (wrong format or does not find data). but the USB and the file structure is the same used to upgrade MPU few minutes before, sounds strange?
Try another USB Stick, format it (FAT32) and copy the files again
 
Hi, last week I started with my first Xpower new car, but it's no coming activated and the infotainment system says R30 version, but I can't find the codeand do a change to passenger mode. How can you access from R30?


I already tried 200519, #*#... combinations and 1234@ABCd , but not working.
I think you got a 2024 build (SWI133-29176-1300R30 to be exact) and it's maybe the reason the old code doesn't work...
 
I got the TBOX updated but still got Bluetooth issues. I have R63 now

Before the r63 update my BT worked fine.
Tbox version 23 readable in the settings and 21 in Ingeneering mode.
Now it works for only 2 starts ready mode and failed.
I need to set him again.
I discover Time zone was UK instead of Paris.
I change it yesterday. I will have a way in few minutes if it s memorized

If you've not tried already, then execute a factory reset on the MG. Also, delete all of your Bluetooth connection profiles for MG on your phone. Have you updated Tbox via USB and in SIPS? If not then do that first before resetting the head unit.

Did you try using !Mg12345 as suggested? Does it work?

Well, dealers lie a lot. Either through lack of communication within their teams, or purposefully due to laziness! They state that everything has been updated when in fact they've done the bare minimum. Not unique to MG of course...

Before visiting your dealer in February try a reset and also deleting all your Bluetooth connection profiles for MG. I had a similar problem where each time my phone connected to the car, it would create a new Bluetooth profile. I had over 30 profiles on my phone for MG. Since the update, and while using wireless Android Auto I've not had an issue at all.

I saw that too since my first R63 update in December and the weather and user app issues. Changed the timezone, nothing change for me. I can use the car 4/5 days without any trouve and one day, it mess up...

The dealerships in France are crap. Although it seems to be systemic throughout Europe. Updating the car is really very, very easy. So long as you have a reliable laptop, internet connection, and subscription (which a dealership should clearly tick all of the boxes).

The only thing is... It takes time to update all of the modules. They make up nonsense that MG advise them against updating unless customer complaints. But if they did their job correctly, and fully serviced the cars with all updates available then we wouldn't be in half the mess a lot of us are in with software bugs!

I wonder how many dealers actually follow the full process when servicing and actually upload the service log to MG China? Mine certainly hasn't, beyond the initial onboarding of the car upon delivery there's no further logs.

It's a computer on wheels, incremental updates need to be made across the board in order for all modules to communicate across the multiplex/CAN networks properly.

With the latest updates my car drives beautifully, without any stupid errors, Bluetooth disconnects, 4G disconnect error messages (I live on a border between two countries) and much less bings and bongs compared to before 🤣
 
My dealer apparently updated all the modules and infotainment (R38 - this i can see). How to check the module versions? LFP standard model

You can see more software versions, via the Engineering menu.

Open the telephone dialler and type in the code below. After pressing the last character the menu should appear.

It works, it's so strange, most of the time nothing.

I remark this setting:
When I start (ready mode) iPhone not paired, but BT ON on both car & iPhone.
The 4 send a ping with the BT code and nothing on the Phone.
It's strange the phone does not received this PIN code.

I don't know if this send is a fake one or a mistake from the car.

I finger crossed, it works since yesterday

Wasn't there a long lasting issues with iphones not holding connection or connect at all via BT?
