MG4 Software Update Thread

Is it possible? Yes

Is it advisable? Probably not, as the SE/Standard doesn't have all the same hardware as the Trophy/Luxury.

PS - your profile says you have a Luxury, so I'm confused as to why you're asking re. the SE. 🤷‍♂️

My friend has the SE model and I was wondering if it could have the same program as the luxury one

That would be great;)
Here you go. You need to restore the backup from the main menu in key mapper. Please be aware this is for left-hand drive vehicles as the co-ords relate to everything being the right way around :-P ... also, when doing the long press it selects one pedal, then goes back to home screen before finally selecting Android Auto. Obviously you can remove that and change the co-ords to Carplay if you've got an iPhone etc. Good luck!

Actually, it's got me thinking - even though LKA is much improved, I'm wondering if there we can trigger certain actions through 'intent'. If we can find out what the quick menu code is for the LKA icon by name, then we might be able to trigger it using the intent command in key mapper. Idem for one pedal.

There's a nice little app called shortcut maker, which I will try out...

Having previously updated my R40 to first R46 then R59 I'm now trying to downgrading back to R46 to get the drop down A/C controls while AA is running and having a wee issue hopefully someone can help with.

i attempted the update (downgrade) and it started off ok but failed about 75% of the way through. When i retry it again it comes up with a message about "condition detection failed."

I tried holding down the home button to reboot it and also locking the car and walking away for 10 minutes but get the same error each time. Has anyone seen this before and if so how did you get past it?

Answered my own question, at least it's not an issue anymore. I tried again but this time i updated the infotainment system ecu first then the avn-mpu and both worked flawlessly. The car is back on R46.

Installing a trophy release on a SE is entirely possible, and it runs almost flawlessly if you tinker a bit with the maps and activation. I used R59, then R63 on my SE for several months without any issues.

I managed to install the maps, and the navigation was fully functional. However, I eventually reverted to R38 for several reasons:

  • I still used AA/CP rather than the stock GPS on a daily basis. The weather forecast is nice to have, but it wasn’t a deal breaker.
  • R38 is more advanced and runs more smoothly (whether on an SE or a Trophy). I tested it on @Mouss's Trophy and found that R63 was a bit laggy too.
  • The HVAC display on the main screen as well as the ability to shut off the car from the drop-down menu are very convenient features

Same for me!

Thank you for sharing. I got into the Android settings by following the instructions. I activated USB debugging and entered system restart via the engineering menu. When I checked to see if USB debugging remained enabled, it was disabled. According to the instructions, USB debugging should have remained on...
