MG4 Trophy map update – BEWARE

On a side note,
The lone car was a Hyundai i20 and the Lane Assist Was Worse than my mg4..lol
It tried to make me go around a roundabout rather than going strait.
My mate went straight at a roundabout and that was without LKA. He didn't make it to the other side as his car got beached on the flowerbed in the centre.

Odin - well done for getting this sorted. Did you need an XML file, and if yes, what was the content?

Thanks
Nick
Hi Nick,
No to the xml file, i just left the car and i knew that they were doing something as i had around 30 alarm messages via the app. Lol..

Odin, did you check if the navi now offers planning a route automatically suggesting ev charge station?
Hi Nlmgsan,
Yes, it appears that it does, I've included a couple of pictures of the system which gives you the choice of “along route“, “nearby “ and “near destination.“. It also appeared to work out the route quicker than before.
I hope that this helps with your question.

Thanks Odin. I need to check if this is different from mine since I only see chargers on the way to your destination. I will be back.

Edit: It is definitely different. Can you 'add' the charger locations to the trip?

Hi Nlmgsan,
I will let you know in a bit.

Stupid question alert. I have 2 x USB C ports, one for charging and one for data. Is there a separate USB-A port where I can plug in a flash drive or do I need to get an adaptor and use the USB C data port please? (MG4 Xpower)

Unless your car is different to every other MG4 .... under the "floating" console there should be a (left) USB A port (for power, data and AA/CP) and a (right) USB C port (for power and flash media). Then there's a rear USB A port.

You should have a USB-A and a USB-C, if not you need an adapter to convert your flash drive to USB-C.

I must be special ;-)

I have 2 x USB C in the central console and will look for an A! Or it'll be an adapter :(

Ignore me everyone - I think I am using the plot but I'm going to blame not wearing my glasses in the car!

I do indeed have a USB-A port on the left hand side which I have a very short adaptor in!

I'll almost amend my profile as I have an Xpower and thought I'd amended that already.

I managed to update without issues using the following process on a Windows 11 laptop and MG4 XPower:

1) https://iov-mapmg.soimt.com
2) Enter VIN only (no need for fingerprint)
3) Click on map link to download (it's a ~17GB so it takes a while)
4) Formatted 32GB USB key to exFAT
5) Extracted "Maps" folder to the same folder on the USB Key (this took several hours)
6) Connected USB key to car and navigated to the map update section (system menu)
7) Followed instructions and waited for "OK" button to be selectable then waited

The car did an MD5 check first then copied then another check which makes sense - that took about 25 minutes as others have said. It then asked to reboot and I now have the latest maps.

Agh, the website says it is not Mac compatible!

If it's just a case of getting hold of the file I am sure I can help you out if you DM me. I think I've deleted it but can download again and share for you if that helps.
That’s really kind thank you but it’s a huge file to share. Am currently downloading via the MG Europe site. No mention there of PC / MAC compatibility. Fingers crossed.

If you are doing it on a Mac you just need to make sure the USB drive is FAT file system and you use one of the cleanup tools to remove all the hidden folders and files that the Mac adds to the drive.
