I’m happy with the improvement so may not do it. The sound deadening makes a big difference to the bass performance and the tweeter upgrade is a big improvement
After more testing today with your settings i'm pretty stoked with the sound, and I haven't even replaced the rear door speakers yet. That's a job for tomorrow after the spacer finishes printing. It's probably subjective but I had to turn down the treble a few notches, the tweeters were too bright for my liking. Or maybe its the music source. What do you use? I'm streaming from Qobuz on my Galaxy S23+ over USB. I also use a bit-perfect player (USB Audio Player Pro)

What tracks do you all like to test speakers? Again its very subjective but i'm always on the lookout for good tracks to use. Here's my playlist! Open Qobuz

Here’s the original tweeter details
Perfect, thanks. I have now ordered some replacement 4ohm tweeters, and should also already have a few capacitors already on order to give a similar low pass filter to the originals.

Fitting will be the tricky bit as the ones I've ordered have a rather large faceplate, I may need to do a little filing for it to fit

I chose the Vibe speakers as they are easy for the stock head-unit to drive and will be ok for a future amp upgrade also.
Hi! I'm interested in upgrading my stock audio system on the MG4 SR. I was thinking about mounting the Hertz K 165 kit (2 Woofer + 2 Tweeter) but I'm not sure since I don't want to add an external amplifier.

How did you determine whether the Vibe speakers were usable with the stock head-unit?

I just want to check, but what size speakers are needed to upgrade, 6" or 6.5"? Also what size should the tweeters be?

And last question promise, after you connect the tweeters to the high out on the crossover, do you need to connect anything to what I assume is the low out, or are the door speakers handled in a different way?

The front and rear are 6.5. Not sure what size the tweeters are. I used Vibe Slick 6C-V7 components. What's important is you choose 4ohm speakers. The Vibes are up to 90W RMS so if you pick within that range it should be ok for the factory head unit. For reference the factory speaks are 25W RMS. You will need spacers to mount the speakers, there's 3D prints available for the Vibes, you could base the screw mounts off those and adjust the height to suit.

Most people have only connected the Vibe crossover to the tweeters (it doesn't work without) and the woofer is just connected to the factory wiring. Seems to sound ok. Maybe the woofer is still receiving highs as well. I am getting a Match M 5.4DSP installed soon, and will be using it's active crossovers.

They should work. They are 75W RMS and 4ohm, mounting depth 63mm. The Vibe Slick 6C-V7 is 90W RMS 4ohm, mounting depth 61mm.

Is there anywhere good people would recommend for buying spacers? Sadly I don't have access to a 3D printer, although I'd love it to be the excuse that persuades the other half to let me get one :D

Hi all, I was just scrolling on Facebook groups and found an interesting website with some cool tweeters .
Looks like original from Bose special made and should fit on our cars.

I think I will give it a try on my Mg ehs.
I hope is allowed to share links here.

Are these a straight swap for the stock tweeters, no need for crossovers?

I was planning to upgrate the two woofers and two tweeters in my MG4 SR. I'm quite intrigued by the official looking Bose replacement listed on Ebay but I'm not sure whether to buy them or something from Jbl / Vibe / Hertz.
Those Bose speakers cost a lot (expecially since they are 4 + 2 of them) but they should be plug and play and easy to mount, withouth requiring adapters or cables modification.
Has anyone tried the whole set? How do they sound with the stock head unit?

If it is something you haven't done before (door panel removal) I have to say it is quite daunting the first time. I have changed speakers in our last three cars so used to it now, although from stock it is always difficult removing the panel the first time.

Two things to note though...don't worry about broken door trim panel clips, they are very cheap and easily replaceable, and bear in mind that the door panel ABS plastic is extremely strong.

Once you have a couple of panel clips out and can get enough purchase with a trim removal tool behind to slide up against and pop out further panel clips it does get easier.

I found replacing the terrible stock speakers with the vibe slick 6c in the front with some sound deadening has improved the sonics further from its flabby uncontrolled bass. The bass frequencies are punchier and tighter, a much greater, controlled, nuanced sound.
Almost a year later, have finally got round to trying the door panels again and for whatever reason they came off fairly easily this time actually (well the right one, haven't done the left yet).

I haven't put in any sound deadening but the Vibe speaker still makes a difference - not as much as the tweeter did, but it's a bit richer and nicer. Used the Vauxhall Zafira speaker mounts someone else suggested, slightly too small so the end result is a bit Heath Robinson but hopefully it'll hold. Will do the passenger door next week maybe.

This page from the service manual is a good summary of the process.

A word of warning, if you leave cables & connectors hanging out of the back of the speaker, the window will chop them off when you wind it all the way down! On the plus side, I'm now an expert in getting the door panels on and off in 2 minutes flat.

Are these the same as the stock Trophy tweeters? Or will they sound better?

Did anyone replace his tweeters with the Bose one? Is it indeed an easy 1 to 1 replacement? Sounds like a easy and non destructive upgrade for the audio system.

Guys, I don't have an MG4 yet but I am a little confused by the discussion and expect I am being stupid. There is a lot of discussion of tweeters but I can only see what appears to be mid-range speakers in the doors. Where are the tweeters or am I mistaken when I think I am looking at mid-range speakers in the doors?

Hello,
I have 51kwh SE (called emotion in my country - slovakia) = so i have only 2 tweeters and 2 speakers in front doors. rear doors are empty.
i've installed VIBE set into my MG4 too. It costs 80 euros with VAT in my country (full set 2 sepakers + 2 tweeters with crossoverrs). VIBE SLICK6C-V7 komponentné reproduktory 16 cm - sada 4ks repro | Henryshop. also added some sound insulation.

Also, one of the tweeters were DeadOnArrival = rattled like a hell, especially when car played gong or during call. since i already glued it, RMA was out of the question, but had to dissasmble it, glue membrane and repair cabling. Quality is a joke ...

My issue is. When playing via bluetooth from spotify basses are VERY weak - even when i tune it via EQ. When i connect same phone (iphone 15 pro) via carplay, it's alot better.

I have posted this with the thread already up re speakers but put it here as well.

Upgraded the front and rear speakers with Vibe Slick6-V7 6.5 component fronts and coaxial rears. I used the original speaker mounts modified to fit the new ones, you can use aftermarket spacers they need to be 34mm deep. The tweeters need the crossover to work properly. The tweeters made a big difference to vocals, horns and percussion lifting the highs to a much better place. Just replacing these is a big improvement.

There have been reports that the rears only get a low pass feed but I haven't found that after some frequency testing, they are getting the full range.

The mid and bass is much better with good low end control and nice bass note definition.

I chose the Vibe speakers as they are easy for the stock head-unit to drive and will be ok for a future amp upgrade also.

The sound deadening is important and makes a big difference pulling the sound together cleanly. It doesn't need to be foil backed as I've used, I already had a roll of foil backed left over from insulating my sail boat (which I converted to electric drive!).

The wiring colours I suggest here are what my car has but should be the same so please double check with a volt metre for the + and - terminals to be sure.

The amp/head-unit is behind the glovebox and you can gain access to it by removing the glovebox, this is not needed for this upgrade, but may be useful if you want to add an amplifier so you can use the existing speaker wires.

Vibe Speakers

Pry Tools

This video is wow...

Makes it clear how to remove trims and be able to change speakers.

In my case i only have front door speakers (SE) but still feel afraid to damage something in the process. Guess thats why you use gorilla tape and plastic pry tools to remove stuff without bending/breaking/making holes to plastics.

I have a few questions - hopefully you can help me get this clear:

1) why is the crossover needed for the tweeters? I assume this additional black circle is that... It just stays there inside ganging?

2) I cant find tweeters with crossovers without speakers.... Or you purchased a component (speaker + cross over + tweeter) and ONLY installed the cross over with yhe tweeter while the door speaker connects directly?

1000169428.png

3) how are these called and how they install? Just cut the cable - peel a little bit and stick it in? Looks so good... I need to find them in USA amazon though - what are the keywords?

1000169427.png

4) about the dampening of the sound - you just put them anywhere they have space or there are logical spots to be added?

1000169425.png

5) lastly - the spacer is 100% required? You broke apart both front speakers as you did with the rear so original spacers can mount the new speakers?

1000169435.png

This part feels scary... Ive changed speakers in the past and its true i never get to use the original speakers anymore so i guess its fine as long ss new speakers fit...

5.1) So you just rip them apart, dremel sand the borders until new speakers fit - screw them in the spacer and use the original screws and holes in the spacer to install in the door - correct?

5.2) same goes for the twitter mount... You cut this part so its easier tu remove this lip entirely... So the new tweeters fit and paste them with silicone gun... ?

Thanks ahead for.any help.

Im eager to do this ... waiting for my birthday next month to buy these for me

I just feel my car is so new to start ripping it apart and install - but i do enjoy good audio system.

Just 370km so far...

Its a shame it didnt come with rear speakers...and i assume just these front + tweeters alone will be a great difference in audio quality <3
