After more testing today with your settings i'm pretty stoked with the sound, and I haven't even replaced the rear door speakers yet. That's a job for tomorrow after the spacer finishes printing. It's probably subjective but I had to turn down the treble a few notches, the tweeters were too bright for my liking. Or maybe its the music source. What do you use? I'm streaming from Qobuz on my Galaxy S23+ over USB. I also use a bit-perfect player (USB Audio Player Pro)I’m happy with the improvement so may not do it. The sound deadening makes a big difference to the bass performance and the tweeter upgrade is a big improvement
Perfect, thanks. I have now ordered some replacement 4ohm tweeters, and should also already have a few capacitors already on order to give a similar low pass filter to the originals. Here’s the original tweeter details
Hi! I'm interested in upgrading my stock audio system on the MG4 SR. I was thinking about mounting the Hertz K 165 kit (2 Woofer + 2 Tweeter) but I'm not sure since I don't want to add an external amplifier.I chose the Vibe speakers as they are easy for the stock head-unit to drive and will be ok for a future amp upgrade also.
The front and rear are 6.5. Not sure what size the tweeters are. I used Vibe Slick 6C-V7 components. What's important is you choose 4ohm speakers. The Vibes are up to 90W RMS so if you pick within that range it should be ok for the factory head unit. For reference the factory speaks are 25W RMS. You will need spacers to mount the speakers, there's 3D prints available for the Vibes, you could base the screw mounts off those and adjust the height to suit.I just want to check, but what size speakers are needed to upgrade, 6" or 6.5"? Also what size should the tweeters be?
And last question promise, after you connect the tweeters to the high out on the crossover, do you need to connect anything to what I assume is the low out, or are the door speakers handled in a different way?
They should work. They are 75W RMS and 4ohm, mounting depth 63mm. The Vibe Slick 6C-V7 is 90W RMS 4ohm, mounting depth 61mm.I was thinking about mounting the Hertz K 165 kit
Are these a straight swap for the stock tweeters, no need for crossovers?Hi all, I was just scrolling on Facebook groups and found an interesting website with some cool tweeters .
Looks like original from Bose special made and should fit on our cars.
I think I will give it a try on my Mg ehs.
I hope is allowed to share links here.

Yep swap straight over with supplied cables. I noticed a difference straight away although it really needs the door speakers as well to support the better tweets. Are these a straight swap for the stock tweeters, no need for crossovers?
Almost a year later, have finally got round to trying the door panels again and for whatever reason they came off fairly easily this time actually (well the right one, haven't done the left yet).If it is something you haven't done before (door panel removal) I have to say it is quite daunting the first time. I have changed speakers in our last three cars so used to it now, although from stock it is always difficult removing the panel the first time.
Two things to note though...don't worry about broken door trim panel clips, they are very cheap and easily replaceable, and bear in mind that the door panel ABS plastic is extremely strong.
Once you have a couple of panel clips out and can get enough purchase with a trim removal tool behind to slide up against and pop out further panel clips it does get easier.
I found replacing the terrible stock speakers with the vibe slick 6c in the front with some sound deadening has improved the sonics further from its flabby uncontrolled bass. The bass frequencies are punchier and tighter, a much greater, controlled, nuanced sound.
A word of warning, if you leave cables & connectors hanging out of the back of the speaker, the window will chop them off when you wind it all the way down! On the plus side, I'm now an expert in getting the door panels on and off in 2 minutes flat.Almost a year later, have finally got round to trying the door panels again and for whatever reason they came off fairly easily this time actually (well the right one, haven't done the left yet).
I haven't put in any sound deadening but the Vibe speaker still makes a difference - not as much as the tweeter did, but it's a bit richer and nicer. Used the Vauxhall Zafira speaker mounts someone else suggested, slightly too small so the end result is a bit Heath Robinson but hopefully it'll hold. Will do the passenger door next week maybe.
This page from the service manual is a good summary of the process.
Are these the same as the stock Trophy tweeters? Or will they sound better?Hi all, I was just scrolling on Facebook groups and found an interesting website with some cool tweeters .

No, you're correct. The tweeters are in the top of the dashboard near the windscreen.Where are the tweeters or am I mistaken when I think I am looking at mid-range speakers in the doors?
I have posted this with the thread already up re speakers but put it here as well.
Upgraded the front and rear speakers with Vibe Slick6-V7 6.5 component fronts and coaxial rears. I used the original speaker mounts modified to fit the new ones, you can use aftermarket spacers they need to be 34mm deep. The tweeters need the crossover to work properly. The tweeters made a big difference to vocals, horns and percussion lifting the highs to a much better place. Just replacing these is a big improvement.
There have been reports that the rears only get a low pass feed but I haven't found that after some frequency testing, they are getting the full range.
The mid and bass is much better with good low end control and nice bass note definition.
I chose the Vibe speakers as they are easy for the stock head-unit to drive and will be ok for a future amp upgrade also.
The sound deadening is important and makes a big difference pulling the sound together cleanly. It doesn't need to be foil backed as I've used, I already had a roll of foil backed left over from insulating my sail boat (which I converted to electric drive!).
The wiring colours I suggest here are what my car has but should be the same so please double check with a volt metre for the + and - terminals to be sure.
The amp/head-unit is behind the glovebox and you can gain access to it by removing the glovebox, this is not needed for this upgrade, but may be useful if you want to add an amplifier so you can use the existing speaker wires.
