MG4 X Power Vibe/Hum 65 to 75mph

The dealer I got mine from says a fix is expected over the summer.

Hmmmm. Just 51 signatures on the petition.

0.23% of total sales of all the MG4 models.

Over 22 thousand sold so it's no wonder they are dragging their heels.

I've searched but can't see how many X Powers have been sold.

(Percentage may be wrong. I am wizened)

I was going to sign it but felt it was a lot of faff, either you had to share it, pay money or page through loads of other petitions to be able to sign this one, so I didn't bother, I also felt that MG wouldn't care anyway.

I'm having the undertray fix completed on Friday so Im hoping this may help ease the vibration a bit.

Is the undertray fix the metal clamping bar?

After testing, mine only vibrates when accelerating heavily past the 68 to 75mph zone. if I then cost at say 72, it's not there, it's only when hard (not soft) accelerating around that speed.

As a gamers, I've actually got uses to the haptic feedback to let me know I'm at that speed when pushing on the power....oops that a 50 road, sort it! ?

I have had my X-Power for just two weeks and yes, I feel the vib on the steering wheel at around 100 km/h. It is quite mild/light but I have sent it back to the service centre to see if they might do something about it.
After reading all your posts, I guess I will have to live with it. It is not a problem with me (I set the steering at Comfort.)

Hi everyone,
I'm new!

I received my XPower less than 1 week ago and I also noticed vibrations around 100km/h.
If I reach this speed calmly, like any average driver, I feel the vibrations (not always), if I reach them quickly, definitely sporty, I don't feel them... maybe it's an impression but I'll test again.

Are these brand new Xpowers ? (i.e. last two posts). If so it would suggest the latest builds have not solved the issue unless build dates are quite old.

Madness that SAIC/MG are still selling cars with the issue!

My car is booked in for its first service at the end of July.

I don't expect very much.
I've already marked the pollen filter to see if it's changed.

@JohnSparrow @Daniel Lee, make sure you have 40psi in your tyres as this has made a difference to some members. ?

I don't think the pollen filter is on the first year schedule?

Edit: I've looked at the service schedule and the word pollen isn't there. The air conditioning filter (which I presume is the same item) is a Service B item, so every 2 years.

Odd @siteguru?

They have already told me what they are going to do??

I will wait and see.

I've got a service plan so it won't really matter, although if they tell me it's changed and I find out it's not.........

Edit: Despite lasting 2 years, I imagine they just want to do me annually (NOT Anally) to justify the price? (£95)

I predict that your expectations will be met ;) Looking at the 'service' list, it's pretty annoying to think that they'll happily take money from you for that list of nonsense but almost certainly do nothing about 'the vibes'

40psi all round.
Check your tyre pressures.
Make sure you have at least 40psi all round.
This has made a huge difference for some members.
is it not too high? on the car's door it says 2.5 on the front and depending on the load 2.5-2.8 on the back.
40 means 2.8 on all tyres...

‘Apparently’ MG china engineering team have some “revised suspension components” to help the issue that are about to released to the UK. My dealer is chasing weekly to avoid a rejection ;)
so this is the suspension issue?
can you elaborate oin that?
so basically they are going to change some/all of suspension system to fix it?
sounds like a classic recall...

Loving your optimism. ??
trying my best mate... :)
i've got my tyres balanced last week which made it better (or at least what my brain told me to make me happier... but still the vibration is there. i think it's more sensible when changing lanes and less when going straight with those speeds..
it's not dramatic in my case, but it is there and it doesn't make sense that the new car should have those things...

Agreed.
Mine was the first one my dealer had sold, so of course he was completely clueless (as were the service department) when I brought it to their attention a few weeks ago.
all dealers are clueless, the only one that could answer/fix it are the SAIC themselves, but it's hard to get to them i guess... :)

by the way, i tried to be creative and found some Chinese MG4 forum with the help of google translator. they also have that issue but it didn't look like it was solved yet, and the funny thing that people were writing there something like "soon the car will be sold in Europe so for sure SAIC will fix it befor selling there..."

I had a very long run in the car yesterday on the motorway, I had time to play around with it a bit. I had said before that ot only seems to be on hard acceleration between 68 and 75 mph. It seems to be getting a little worse. Could be a multitude of things for that such as tire pressure wear etc.

However what I did notice was that it only seemed to happen in normal. I didn't try snow but eco and sport, I couldn't feel it, unless I told my brain to think that.

To me it feels more like it's a de-harmonisation of the two motors which seems to resync after a second or two at around 75-80 mph.

So we need to notify the dealer now though to ensure we are eligible for the suspension change if they deem it to be that? I've not mentioned it yet because it's not that bad in my car.

No.
Much has been written on the subject.

This is a very heavy car and higher pressures are the norm.

Besides the cars balance is 50/50 and running pressures that the tyres are designed to run will not cause you any issues.

40psi has been identified as the optimum pressure for reducing vibrations in cars with the problem.

None of us have quite got our finger on the "why" but it does work for some.

My friends car has zero vibes and mine have been very much reduced to almost nil.

Run what your happy with.
