Indeed, although I think he or she will take quite a while to pop round and switch off your LKA.Or, I could write to the minister of transport. I choose war.
Don't worry about it, there are people on here with that as their only modeThis thread seems to have drifted somewhat. Can we get back on topic please ?
/Pedantic mode off.
Like this, you mean? This thread seems to have drifted somewhat.
What a disgrace, MG UK know how to spoil a half decent car.I’ve been holding off with this in hope but time for an update.
The steering damper just hid some of the more severe shaking my car was doing so initially felt like an improvement. I decided to do my work commute on the motorway for a few days and decided I couldn’t live with it. My car is pretty bad as the entire car shakes in several speed zones and the vibration most people seem to describe comes through the floor and everything else. After anything more than about 15 minutes on the motorway it made my hands and feet feel strange.
I informed the dealership I do not accept it is a ‘characteristic’ using resources from this thread to demonstrate MG don’t actually think that and wanted to reject the car but would accept a replacement or repair but making it clear I was within 30 days.
The dealership told me MG advised the best course of action was to get the car back for investigation. They had the car two weeks, then stated they did nothing other than test drive it as MG technical eventually just said it’s a ‘characteristic’ again and that they could not accept my rejection in MG’s behalf.
I’ll not name and shame the dealership yet as I get the impression they are equally unimpressed and although refusing the rejection, I think they are trying to do the best they can short of footing the bill for a defective car that they won’t get the money back for from MG. They haven’t been obstructive beyond refusing rejection, which I suspect is coming for MG U.K. and the whole getting the car back for assessment was a time wasting exercise to make 30 day rejection process an ordeal that they can try and fight.
It’s with the finance company now and they seemed completely baffled that they are refusing the rejection.
Anyway, this is a long winded warning not to buy a new XPower or any MG for that matter if you want a meaningful warranty. If you do buy an XPower, don’t give them the chance to fix it because they won’t. They will try and drag it out until it makes your life much more difficult! Write a letter or send an email to the dealer rejecting it as unsatisfactory, return it to them and demand a refund within 14 days.
The dealer has acknowledged I rejected mine within the first 30 days, they had it more of that time than I did, and either side of the 30 day end point but still refused my rejection. If I decide to take this court they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on but obviously they are hoping I’ll give up at MG U.K.s direction.
I’ll never buy another MG after this, that’s for certain! But the dealership I’m still giving the benefit of the doubt for now.
This is the current bollocks they will eventually come back with after dragging it out: “liaising with MG technical”(not that it’s anything new):
“MG Motor UK has since advised that the feedback felt through the steering system at higher speeds is considered a characteristic of the MG4 XPower. This is due to the car’s enhanced performance setup, including an additional drive motor, and modified suspension and steering geometry. Importantly, MG has confirmed that this is not a safety or mechanical concern, nor does it indicate a manufacturing defect.”
Yeah and I’m Santa Claus!!![]()
They haven’t been obstructive beyond refusing rejection
Although they said they didn’t do anything it seems they have as the car isn’t as bad as it was. The hum from the vibration is far less and under hard acceleration there is no sudden obvious rotational vibration like there was before. It’s not fixed but it’s improved.Sorry to hear about all this. What a sad state of affairs.Although doesn't suprise me one bit, after the stuff I've read on here about MG UK
So what's the next move?
I know that sounds a bit weird but they pointed me in multiple directions of how to dispute it and I did.
YepWhat a disgrace, MG UK know how to spoil a half decent car.
Characteristic my arse
Sounds like nothing's changed in 2 years.Appalled by MG UK stance on this.![]()
This is so easy to disprove, if it were the case then EVERY XPower would exhibit the same behaviour and they demonstrably do not.MG technical eventually just said it’s a ‘characteristic’
For the avoidance of doubt, it is a Section 75 claim you need to make with your credit card provider. When starting the process please make this point absolutely clear to the first (and every other subsequent) person you speak with at the card provider. (First line support's crib sheet likely says to use the charge back process initially, as it costs the card provider nothing since the funds come from the merchant's bank. This is of absolutely no use toIf not I’ll see what nonsense they have lined up for the finance company and if they can’t get anywhere I’ll start a charge back on my credit card as I used that to pay the deposit.
Thanks. Not been in here much lately.
Recently come out of retirement to go 4 on 4 off back on the trucks.
Anyway....you all know my thoughts about this and also know I am with at least 18 others in a group litigation.
Lots going on in the background, but as yet, the trigger appears to have not yet been pulled.
They need to pull their bloody fingers out though, as my car goes back in September.
Good Luck @unbornidentity, I knew what you were in for from the start.
As I also predicted, my car now being at 14000 miles is getting worse.
The vibes are now accompanied by quite a pronounced hum, which is surely some component wearing out due to the imbalance.
Here's hoping this gets this to court real soon.

Thanks for the advice. This is of absolutely no use to use - charge back would only apply for the deposit).
Good idea, I’ll do that! This is so easy to disprove, if it were the case then EVERY XPower would exhibit the same behaviour and they demonstrably do not.
I would be asking MG for the reports from testing to prove 100% of XPower models have this characteristic baked in. Can you imagine on page xx of an internal road test report it says, car vibrates at xxMPH.
Also based on this ridiculous statement from MG, those cars that do not vibrate should be rejected as they are not functioning correctly.
