MG4 XPOWER
Saw the regular MG4 SW thread and it seems they are on a different build set to us. I checked mine this morning having collected it new in the middle of November and it's at R40. Some other digging says this has better LKA, mine is just a small nudge and usually only engages when it detects an oncoming car, on some B roads nearby (bungalows with hard walls right on the edge of the roadside) it gets a bit annoying as there are reasons NOT to be too close to the edge of the road, and sometimes weird kinks in the road set it off, but nothing I would call dangerous as others have suggested on some of the earlier cars.

My first ever new car and first over 100 HP, (other than holiday leases and borrowing someone elses).

I am on a hire purchase sal sac scheme through work, not sure if I should update it myself in future or bother to go 40 miles to the main dealer, it will be a LONG time before I hit the 15,000 mile service.

I am running R40 also and for now am happy with its niggles.
Regarding LKA operation, I believe the R** software is just for the infotainment system, there are separate software updates for the control modules themselves that affect how the car behaves.
I believe servicing is 12 months regardless of miles.

Mine came with R40 when delivered in September (Nov ‘23 build date) - dealer had updated various modules incl ACC, LKA and Climate Control. FICM MCU was also updated to latest version 68.4.7.0 but left the infotainment at R40, I guess because it’s the more stable version/has fewer bugs than R46 & 59 that came after.
Everything worked just fine ‘out of the box’ and no complaints on my side, but decided on doing the R59 update myself (leaving the FICM MCU alone) mainly for the added LKA toggle on/off on the drop-down menu plus EV route finder.

I will probably get mine updated when it needs a service around Oct 25 but i am very wary of them changing stuff and making it worse ‘for me’ where as i know whats what now.

I'm presuming mine came with all the updates, as I did ask the dealer to do them, before I picked up the car. And as my motor's running great. I'm leaving well alone. As you've said, I've also heard of folk getting updates and making things worse. 🙄
So as the saying goes, " if it ain't broke... "
🙂👍

Sadly, it seems to be company policy to agree to that, presumably because it very much helps to close the sale, then for various reasons it rarely seems to happen. I suspect it's mostly that the sales people are completely separate from the people that prepare the cars for the sale, and there is a lack of communication.

Hopefully yours is a rare exception, or my suspicions are wrong, based on the bad cases disproportionately posting here and elsewhere about updates not getting done.
