MG5 Map Update?

When was the last time the MG5 had a maps update? I’ve just bought a pre-registration one and the maps are at least 2 years out of date!

Most don’t bother with map updates and use CarPlay or Android Auto instead.

Has anyone found out how to upgrade the maps/infotainment on the Facelift MG5? It doesn't look like the same process as the MG5 SR.

My PFL had an update a coule of months ago , but I tend to use Android Auto anyway because the inbuilt SatNav is s^&t

I have a 70 plate, the wife has a 72 plate and they never updated them and mine was out of date. I would never rely on them as they are also too sluggish. Just stick to Google maps on your phone, that way you get live traffic updates too

I just took delivery of a brand new MG5 and somewhere read that you get free map updates for the first 5 years.

It says so in the maps update document on your manuals page, for which you need your VIN. At the bottom of the how to update document.

Please let us know how you get on. Like many others I used Google maps and only have it as back up, effectively just like an old fashioned and potentially out of date A-Z. Whenever I ask my dealer about updates I get blank looks. Dealer is Volvo/MG combo and think the MG element is definitely second fiddle.

Well it failed yesterday but I think the files had got corrupted on the USB as the checksum didn't match. I've re-copied them and will get onto it this coming week. The process seems straightforward enough.

Make sure the USB is formatted correctly for the updates to work.

It was the checksum which happens at the start of the process which failed so I think the format (FAT32) was OK but that's a good point!

When I looked it had an Android Lost folder on it, so maybe it wasn't empty when I started or maybe the failed upgrade caused that. Will be trying again at the weekend...
