Hello everyone - I'm currently driving a Golf GTE, which I actually really like, but it's just simply too small - not enough room to collect bits and pieces from DIY stores, or hold a reasonable amount of fishing gear, or even transport my wife, daughter and her boyfriend to my in-laws for Christmas.

I'm recently retired, and so my life pretty much revolves around the above, although I could possibly make things easier by avoiding my in-laws... Now there's a thought!

So, having spent a couple of hours looking at a Tesla Model X, last Thursday for £33k, I dawdled my way home with a feeling of disquiet, as going ahead with the purchase of what would undoubtedly be a lovely car would leave me with an 8 year-old car with almost 100k miles, and a serious dent in my savings account. Before I owned the Golf, I drove a Volvo XC60, which was a lovely car, but I traded it in when I retired, as I really didn't want to run a car which returned 35mpg, and wore tyres which were close to £200 a corner, and windscreen wipers which cost £238 to replace when I had no income!

Stick with me here - when I bought the Volvo, the other car I was considering was a pre-facelift HS, but I just couldn't make the deal work, hence the Volvo.

Fast forward to last Thursday, and as I would drive within a mile of my local MG dealer on the way home from my Tesla deliberation, I decided ot drop in and eliminate the MG from my shortlist. Well, blow me, there's a new kid in town - the new HS. It's a lovely car, and so my wife and I returned on Friday morning for a test drive, and before it was time for lunch, I'd popped a deposit on one, and I'm waiting for a delivery date - expected in the next two weeks.

I've decided on a HS PHEV in grey and Trophy spec.

It's not my first MG, however. When I considered the HS previously, I also owned a 1967 MGB GT. A simpler car, for sure, but probably not as good for a weekend jaunt to Tuscany!

And congrats on your new motor. The new HS does look like a lovely bit of kit. 🙂👍
