New MG4 coming?

Different kettle of fish, IMHO. We have had two 911's and those cars attract a dedicated enthusiast market, keep their value as a minimum and increase in value in many cases, like the 993. So there is a decent market for specialist garages to keep those cars on the road.
Totally agree, there is just no way you can compare the aftermarket demand for a classic German sports car and a budget friendly Chinese EV, which has already proven on occasion to have a lengthy process in terms of parts availability.

Sure but there will me far more MGs available to support a network of independent specialists who will also specialise in other makes, especially Chinese sources vehicles as they will be sharing many Chinese made electronic components.

My main concern will be the supply of body panels for the current mg4. If as someone has said that they are no longer producing the current model will a minor collision write our present vehicles off

To me, I'm reminded of something that Daewoo might have produced in the mid nineties. In other words, I feel MG have gone backwards and not in a funky, retro way.
Now there's a thought. To keep up with the R5, Capri, Mini, Fiat 500 etc. MG should come out with a "new" retro MGB GT and Midget models. With the chrome bumpers, of course ;)

With new technology, reproducing items such as body panels will become much easier. Releasing/replacing models every 3 years just shows how quick and easy it is becoming to manufacture all of the items necessary for such a quick turnover of what is a complicated product. The Chinese are well ahead of European manufacturers in this aspect.

At the end of the day the parts that are covered by the 7 year warranty (in UK) are going to be available.

There will also be a variety of cars available for breaking that parts can be scavenged off.

What about an MG Minor ?
The classic originals are still going strong.
Nice idea, but I don't believe they were popular enough outside the UK.

The Beetle was a global classic, as was the mini.

Renault 4 had 8 million sales around the world, whereas the Morris Minor only had 1.6m.

SAIC is looking for a global market.

What about an MG Minor ?
 I'm old and my memory is not as good as it was, but I struggle to recall an MG Minor.

IIRC it was a Morris Minor with a (very few) Austin Minor van variants. I passed my test in the new-fangled Morris 1100 which was made about the time production of the Morris Minor ceased 👵

Yeah the BMC / Leyland brand MG’s only started with the 1100 / 1300 cars I think. My dreams of a Minor MG were probably the reason the crankshaft broke - mind you it carried on (clanking painfully) for quite a few miles before I dropped the sump and replaced the shaft. Those were the days. Couldn’t afford new so pulled the replacement out of a scrap car behind Lamb’s garage in Banchory and scraped together enough to buy new bearing shells.
It never did become the MG oof my dreams though 🤩
