Morning all!

I picked up my 2023 MG4 Trophy last week, and apart from the usual issues that people have with it (LKA and FBA trying to kill me), I am very happy with the car.

Apart from a few little issues... I was hoping some of you could offer some recommendations?

1. The floor mats I've got with it are just the standard ones. Having had rubber mats for the last 12 years in my Golf, I'm thinking of upgrading to something a little more sturdy.

2. We have a golden retriever, and whilst he's not been in it yet, I can see the interior being a white shade of fluffy if he does. Have anyone got any cool car seat covers, and more importantly, a boot interior which is easy to fit and looks good?

3. I find the interior of the car very dark. Seen a few pictures of foot level lighting but can't find any links on the forums to them?

4. Anyone recommend updates to interior lighting plus lighting for the rear? It's like looking into the void in the back!

5. Wind deflectors would be nice as well.

Thanks all. Have found the forums really useful - lots of things that were not explained to me at the dealers!

In all honesty, if you have received a car that is actively trying to kill you, you should return it, decline receipt and potentially raise a case with the police. If it is that bad, it's not only your life at risk but others on the road too.

Thanks for the reply - the comment was a little tongue in cheek if I am honest... and as I said I'm happy with the car and disable the LKA and FBA to alert only.

I think, after having a fairly standard Golf for 12 years moving to something a little more sophisticated takes a little getting used to!

Your wording suits Facebook, here I tend to think we are more honest, as that makes it easier for others to help you.
But I do get your point (though my MG4 has ever been violent with me, only persistent and strict ???)

I think it's that initial shock and the feeling of "I don't like that". Driving it home from the dealer (approx 30 miles) and I had a couple of slaps on the wrists on the motorway from the LKA. But it was the FBA on Monday when we passing a car at a junction, him turning left me turning right, and the car emergency stopped and then wouldn't let me move for 10 seconds that scared the living daylights out of me (any my son).

Glad someone wasn't behind me at the time as it was quite a violent, and yet completely un-necessary stop.

Since then, LKA and FBA to alert everytime I get in the car now.

There are great seat covers available from AliExpress and plastic floor and boot mats from an outfit in England called something like EV mats. You should be able to find threads about these. (I'm on my phone so can't get the links right now.)

Personally I HAVE had my LKA try to throw me agressively into oncoming traffic, wet conditions, and it got "confused by tyre tread reflections of car lights" - so ease up on your reaction to the phrase "it tried to kill me" - your personal experience of a mild LKA may not be the same as the less fortunate. Also, this is a forum of adults who sometimes vent their frustrations a little tongue in cheek, and don't need a pompous clarification to tell them off - he says, giving a pompous clarification... and waiting patiently to be removed from the forum for it

Another vote for EV mat. They are strong and very well fitted, with upturn edges so will keep your MG nice and dry even if you are not. They also have great mat for the boot made of the danger materials although unfortunately not for the Trophy version for to the 2 small side "wings"

That LKA got me a very cheap low kms MG4 from a salvage auction .... apparently, the driver was trying it out up a windy country road and crossed the centre line on a LH sharp bend, the steering took over and rammed it into a white post .... the piece of timber jammed in the tow thread hole on the R/H front was about the length of a wine cork .... 288km on the dash read out when I got it to light up
I'll be sure to disarm it on the MG4 I'm planning to pick up from a Melbourne salvage auction .... it's a repairable write off at the moment .... if the wife insists on driving it back home to Mannum .... I don't want it to become a stat write off along the way ..... I'll wait till we get it home before I let her have a drive without it disabled ..... maybe it will scare her out of driving MY new car, I seem to have lost my 2006 i tech Prius to her and have to drive around in the EB11 Fairmont, that thinks I own an oil refinery or something

Back on topic:
I like those little vent looking things that go each side of the front bumper .... I know they are just for show, but they look good

Agreed!

Caliban, now with added attitude.

I have installed:
  • Gas struts for the bonnet
  • Floor mats to protect the original floor from wear and tear
  • Foot pedal covers to make them look better.
  • Leather seat covers to protect the seats from sweat and to make them feel better rather than the PU look finish they come with.
  • Screen protectors to keep finger smudges to a minimum and to make cleaning easier.
  • Motorised rear boot system (so much easier to use the key fob to open/close).
  • I have installed a bigger storage box to better improve available storage (my own design and 3D printed).
  • I have also created and 3D printed replacement inserts for the wheels to make the car more unique. These will be customisable to what ever the owner wants. (Yes I know it says Kwh and should be kWh, but hey its a first go at it). The inserts are also being looked at for different colour combos to see what look best for me.
  • Mud flaps with MG4 logo.
I am looking to design and 3D print a Froot/Frunk for my rear wheel drive MG4 as there is space for storage here (not much room but better than to have the charge cables loose in the back).

Our pooch is strapped in and sits in one of these. It’s good to have ‘Grab handle straps’ to keep it in place. And side ‘zipped flaps’ so the skirt / sill is protected from paws / claws. See arrows.
And this ‘rubber edged’ ‘Lilly brush’ is completely brilliant at removing dog hairs from carpet and fabric lining.

It's the gas struts and the motorised tailgate mechanism that really impress me! (Ray, which Perth are we talking about here?)
If you click on the location, it shows Australia on the map.
