Hi all. I have only had my second hand MG EV Excite mode (10months old)l for a week now after purchasing it from a Kia dealer in Louth Lincolnshire, so still getting to know the car.
On lifting the bonnet today I was surprised to find and that there was no black plastic cover over the motor and transmission, all the HV cables and connectors are exposed.
Dose anyone in the community know if this is normal on the Excite model, or is it only the Exclusive that has the cover that only gives access to the fluid reservoirs for topping up that I've read about on this forum.
Thanks Niall

MG5 that's probably where I got the idea that there should be one fitted, I've spent so much time looking into making the move to a EV that I get a bit mixed up.
Thanks very much for your quick response to my query
Much appreciated.
PS. If there had been a cover I would probably have had a quick peek under it anyway (-:

It does look a bit bare when you lift the bonnet - have you decided what model to go for?

The MG5 cover requires removing 10 screws so a quick peek would take longer than you'd think.

Not sure why they didn't put a space for the charging cable in there - having removed said cover (in order to replace the headlights) they could have easily done so.

I totally agree about storage under bonnet, maybe it's concerns about lifting the bonnet in the rain, maybe someone will make a after market storage box, maybe adapt a MG5 cover. l like the after market cable reel that Miles was demonstrating last week, some clever entrepreneurs out there

Yes, made the plunge and bought a secondhand blue Excite last week, decided I could live without a sunroof, heated leatherette seats and a rearview camera, and so far not missing them.
Are you enjoying your purchase?

On some electric cars they put a plastic cover on, so it actually looks like there is piston engine in there. That is silly to me?

I'm not a fan of sunroofs or roof bars and I could live with cloth upholstery, but I wanted electrically folding mirrors and rear camera so I went for the exclusive.

No having a go at "leatherette seats" but some years ago seats went from Leather to PVC/Vinylm bloody hot and bunt you when you got in and sweaty in the summer (you had to put towels on them). Then they introduce a cloth interior lovely (at least in some manufacturers) . Valour cloth trim on the 70's Fords, my Mexico had what was called a "Custom Pack" which included cloth Recaro seats. Now we have Leatherette and Vegan leather (joke) is that not retrograde and going back in time?

Yes thanks, now I've got over buyers remorse (-:.
It's Been a interesting time learning how to drive a automatic and using Kers breaking to full effect. Learning something new everyday.
I’m glad I’m not the only person who suffered from that! We traded in my beloved 2017 XC60, which I’d had from new & wasn’t a cheapie. I really wanted a Tesla, but the prospect of spending twice what the MG cost I really could not justify. I’m over it now and convinced I made the right decisio.

I guess also with the bonnet storage thing, you'd have to remember to put the wipers in service mode so the bonnet will open!

I think there is a safe mode when the bonnet is opened which stops the wipers from working, also my 2020 ZS EV's front emblem does not glow, whistle dixy or in fact it does nothing, this is the second one I have driven and neither did anything. Or am I wrong in assuming it should glow.

It doesn’t whistle but should pulse when the car is charging. Switch the wipers off using the wiper stalk before lifting the bonnet ?
