Number plates

Ahh, sorry, can't help. I DK in EU you remove and return the old ones and then clip in the new ones. Mostly done by dealership before actually getting the original plates.

On my MG (EU Version) there is a frame for the plates screwed on at predrilled holes and the number plates are just clipped into the frame. This way number plates can be changed within seconds without any tools.

P.S.: Negative side effect is that some workshops tend to change the frames with their own ones having an ad on it and you miss your neutral frames after a service :-(

Have just bought personalised number plates for my mg4 trophy and wondering if there's a guide to removing old and fitting new.
The rear plate on mine is in a dealer fitted frame, which was easy to unclip and fit in the new plate.
However the front had both pads and screws and despite heating as suggested, was not for moving!
I ended up making a paper template for the existing screw locations and fitted the new one over the top. Luckily everything lined up and you cannot tell, when the car is returned I will just remove the private plate.

Switched my plates yesterday, car was a pre-reg from England and local dealer wanted to fit their plates with their name, took the easy for them route, pulled the original ones off, didn’t bother removing the residue of the sticky tabs, just added some more and drilled into the body to add screws (hate screws). Best way to remove residue, and
pre - fitted plates I find is tar remover in an atomiser bottle, for plates in situ, few sprays down the back, leave for 10 minutes, should just peel off, for residue, spray, leave, wipe. Comes up a treat.
