Paulie's MG5 upgrades blog, Wheels, Suspension, Foot rest, & much more!

It's not, but it's money for nothing, never the less.

Why should you pay more for driving along 30mm lower?

True, but if you like tinkering with your motor, you pay extra insurance. Simple's.
Granted some insurance companies are better than others. Or don't tell them and take a chance. Up to you. 🙂👍

I'd be interested in seeing your fog light solution, have you got any pics?
Here’s a few photos
It’s a full bumper removal
I document it and posted on this forum

Excellent job on the lights, I like those a lot. Sadly no option to do this on the facelift version as even the Chinese Ei5 now has no fog light option at all. :(

Couldn’t you retro fit some
Here’s a little taster I’ve just knocked up
Hope you like it
Maybe put angel eyes in

To be honest, never worried about the warranty and modifying me car. I ain't waiting for the the warranty to expire.
I just go ahead and modify it. Life's too short. And if it goes, tits up, regarding the mods, if I do have make a claim, on the warranty, I'll worry about it then. Actually I won't worry, I'll just deal with it. So far with all my new cars, I've been lucky. Mind you I've never had an MG before. 🤣🙂👍

I fully agree. I have my own well equipped garage and the skillset to do all my own servicing and most repairs if needed. I actually hate having dealers service or work on my cars, as they're generally mediocre at what they do, less competent and/or have less attention to detail than I do. As a result, I don't like long warranties much at all, they tie you in to many years of mainly nonsense annual servicing by the dealer or other third party at high cost, under threat of invalidating the warranty if you don't comply! It's the one thing I really like about the Tesla model, they honour the warranty even if you self service, or don't service at all! (Unless the lack of service specifically causes a given failure)

I don't think that Tesla's have a service schedule do they?

Yes, they do recommend servicing the usual things such as annual brake inspection, check fluid at 2 years, change pollen filter, etc, same as any car, just common sense stuff, but they don't hold you to ransom and withhold warranty like MG and others do if you don't follow a rigid service dictate, or want to perform the tasks yourself.

I just saw this on there website:
Does my vehicle require an annual maintenance service?
Your Tesla vehicle does not require annual maintenance or regular fluid changes. Check your owner’s manual for latest maintenance recommendations for your vehicle.

Although elsewhere it suggests that the brake fluid is tested every 4 years and that the brakes are inspected every 12 months if you live in a cold climate.

The brake fluid is telling... So many manufacturers insist it's changed every 2 years (not tested, which is all it usually needs after 2 years and takes seconds!) and if you don't have it done, kiss your warranty goodbye, and that's all of the warranty as well, not just any brake related failures, absolute extortion...

In the scheme of what we're used to when servicing ICE cars the MG has been incredibly cheap to service at main dealers, and of course you get the "free" AA membership.

I know there isn't much to actually do in a service but mine on the pre FL were £47 in year 1 and £130 in year 2. Year 3 is due now but I sold it (!!) but the local dealership quoted me £150 for service plus MOT. All "low mileage" (which seems to be 10k or less)

Anyway... Enough moaning about warranties for now and back to the topic! I've just had a call from the dealer, my car is in and I'm picking it up on Saturday afternoon, woohoo!!, let the real fun commence. :ROFLMAO: :p

Sorted it for you, Paulie.
A tad impractical, but, looks, awesome.
😎🙂👍

Well, it's here!

Initial inspection shows it to be all good, no damage. Only had a superficial clean by the dealer by the looks of it with lots of nooks and crannies missed and it's obviously been sat a while somewhere quite dirty, but I'm fine with that, the less a dealer cleans it the better, less chance of scratching it up! I'll detail it properly over the coming days.

Whenever I buy a new car, I always seem to find the number plates to have been badly fitted, and this car didn't disappoint! They were just hilarious, crooked, off centre, the front one already cracked during fitting, and all the drilled holes had torn away the reflective backing around them from incompetent drilling technique. They looked like a half trained chimp had fitted them, scary to think whoever did it probably also services our cars! Still at least they used the factory holes and didn't drill any new ones in the tailgate metal! (I pre-empted any risk of this by insisting they didn't drill on pain of rejection, as I think they just might have!)

Front plate is in the dustbin now where it belongs, with the rear kept just in case I need it for a trailer at some point and new, high quality, 140mm deep replacements that will actually suit the cars Chinese format mountings are on order. :)

Number plates aside, I really liked the salesman, a nice guy. I was also pleasantly surprised to get floor mats, and a Type 2 cable included along with the Granny charger!

Congrats on getting your new motor. 👍
Cock-eyed number plates 🤪 are a pet hate of mine, too. Just no need for it. 🙄
