R59 MG4 Trophy LR SOFTWARE

Hello

Any chance that anyone using R59 could send me a pic of the swipe down screen with the shortcuts on it. I’m supposed to have R59 (as at yesterday’s update at Dealer), but there no disable LKA button, or EV Route on second Home Screen (sweep left). Nothing at all seems to have changed. I don’t think R59 has installed.

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section.

I just want to get my ducks in a row before robustly approaching the MG Dealer, who assure me R59 was applied, even though it still says R40! Give it time they say??

I don't think that LKA would be disabled as it's currently a legal requirement of the manufacturers prior to type approval.

The OP is referring to the quick access menu and yes R59 on Trophy (and R33 on SE) have that button

There are picture somewhere in this thread, but as it's currently on page 183 I think finding them would be a bit of a challenge. Hopefully someone who has the pics will come along soon.

Or check the hidden menu. There's much more in there that will help to find differences with others on R59.

Absolutely. It says R40, but the dealer says it has been upgraded and is running R59. I think not.

When I requested an upgrade from R13 to R33 (at the one-year service) I went to collect the car and asked if it had been done. Lots of shrugged shoulders. So I marched out to the car and checked. R13. They they tried to lay a line on me that maybe it had been done but the number hadn't been updated. So I marched back to the car and checked the HVAC screen. Still on R13. So I went back and had a row with them.

Don't trust a dealer as far as you can throw him.

Unbelievable isn’t it. That’s effectively exactly what they told me. I shall email them tomorrow with pictures of what there should be and visit them on Monday. I’ll let you know how I get on. Thanks

I hope you have better luck than I had. I took the car back about a month later specifically to have the R33 thing seen to, and sat for about three hours in their waiting room, to be told that the technician was unable to do it because the system kept trying to update from R21 instead of from R13 and he was afraid to take a guess at what to do in case he bricked the car. He would get advice from MG and get back to me.

Weeks and weeks passed and it took another furious email to get any action. Then I got a call back and yes they could book the car in to do this, and the undertray fix which they graciously conceded had become available - that was the other main topic of the shouting-match - at the same time. On 10th September. This all started in the middle of April.

I'm beginning to think I'm the only person in the country who is still on R13. I've been complaining about aspects of it since I got the freaking car. They have plenty documentation. I nearly rang them up and demanded the update when it first became available late last year, but thought I could wait till the first service. But then - "we only do these updates if the customer complains about something" was the first excuse. When I asked them rather pointedly how many more complaints they'd like, they started with other excuses.

If it's not sorted next week I will get positively homicidal. If it is sorted, I'll wash my hands of them and go to a different dealer.

This seems to be part of the problem. As someone who's been doing tech support and network administration for years that wouldn't bother me in the slightest, knowing how Android updates work.

Trouble is, they're expecting workshop mechanics to be software engineers now and they freak out as soon as it doesn't match the instructions to the letter. It's easier for them to just pretend the whole thing doesn't exist.

Precisely. Honestly, I intend to get that update from them, and the undertray, and they can fix the charging lights that went some time in the interim, and if the LKA update is available by next week (I think I heard it is) they can do that too, and then they will never see me again.

I got the R59 update on Wednesday. Seems to add the EV route option to the menu and a redesigned A/C menu.

The ELK appears to behave itself now although I still prefer to disable it before driving off.

Can you please post a picture or video of CarPlay? Some of us are interested to understand whether the top bar is visible and the pull down menus (centre and top/right) work in CarPlay on R59

There have been changes to the overlay implementation in R59 that may be coming to a future 1100Rxx update for the SE and could break the SEs dependence on external navigation apps @siteguru

It does in 1100R33 with Android auto - can't comment re. Carplay.

Any improvement to Sat Nav? My version doesn’t have several new roads near me (some built 2 x Yeats ago), but the MG Smart phone App does have them?

Ah I see, I was previously on R33 and it's a complete redesign from that version.

Can't comment on the sat nav as I've not really used it on either version yet (I mainly use Apple maps on Carplay). But everything else seems pretty familiar.
