Say Hello

Apologies if there's a new owner intro thread and I missed it.

Ordered a green 2024 xpower today for delivery in a couple of weeks. Excited for my first EV.

Got hooked after driving my friends Tesla 3 performance for an afternoon, but need a hatch as I have a dog so MG4 was the perfect choice.

I have a long "petrol head" history with a range of performance cars from XR4i, Fiat Uno Turbo, Renault 19 16v, Seat Cupra back in the day, up to my most powerful previous car being a modified (about 320 bhp) Mazda 3 MPS. Actually moving to the MG4 from a 2020 B Class 220d which I loved but hated the rip off servicing costs.

Looking forward to contributing to the community, but I start with a question.. does the UK xpower have the downward LED indicators at the front? (I didn't look on my test drive)

Welcome to the forum.
The indicators are in the bumper, on the outside corners. IMG_1409.png

Good job then, that you have a couple of weeks to catch up on here with all things X Power related!

A quick search using the tool top right of the page will no doubt bring up any questions you need answered.

We're a friendly bunch on here and you will find that a lot of the X Power owners are from a hot hatch/performance car background.

Looking forward to hearing your first thoughts.
Welcome.

Welcome David.

We've just got the SE so don't have quite the same acceleration. However, I did pull out quite close in front of a sports car on a dual carriageway. They flashed me for it, but left them for dead.

We ordered a backseat cover off amazon when we bought the MG4 for the dog. He likes to keep an eye on what we are doing (and us keep an eye on him). Clipped into the seat belt. We were getting unexpected warning chimes for a while before realising that it was from the seat sensors. Stopped that by plugging all the seatbelts in!

Hi David,

Thanks for using indicators.

Lots of love from a fully paid up member of the-people-that-don't-like-it-that-much-when-you-get an-SUV-shoved-up-your-arse-and-then-passing-you-on-your-right-hand-side-at-way-over-NSL-because-of-the-in-built-insecurity-complex-and-you-resist-the-temptation-to-put-your-foot-down-because-a)your-wife-shouted-stop-it-when-you-showed-her-launch-control-that-time-and-b)because-you-are-better-than-that-and-c)because- having-a-licence-is-better-than-endangering-yourself-and-others-club.

Whatever happens, just cross your fingers for a set of lights. Give them green, then give them whatever seems appropriate.

Lovely to have you as part of the community. Well worth having a good read through everything MG4 not just XPOWER.

Yes the infotainment is shite, LKA irritating at times and other foibles.

However, the sound of the motors doing their thing (accompanied by passenger giggles) is a wondrous thing. Especially when said SUV is an ugly, yet distant, memory in your rear view.

Stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy the green. Grey is 8 points in scrabble, green only 6. Just saying

Hi everyone!

Just joined as I am researching and swatting up on, not only about which MG EV would suit me when finances eventually allow but, all about how life with an EV pans out and what you need to know.

I used to have a ZT-T personally but hated it in the end and got rid of it. I drove my late self-adopted 'Dad's MG3 for six months whilst he was undergoing chemotherapy for the lung cancer that came back. It was a gutless engine and I am a girl who loves a bit of torque!

I prefer automatic cars (which the MG3 wasn't ... grrr!) and an EV seems the perfect all-round package for me in the future.

So hi again. I am going to rebuild my old GOMG website soon and incorporate my late 'Dad's pages from his website he had too.

Catie. An X Power seems perfect for you. ???
Hi @salty and thanks for the welcome.

My only other have-to-have is a big boot as I carry a small mobility scooter. I live with Multiple Sclerosis and currently the scooter fills the rear my 2003 Honda CR-V! That has about 527 litres with the load cover.

I do like the MG5 and MG ZS EVs. Especially with privacy glass at the rear.

Both nice motors, an MG5 or a MG ZS probably an MG5 slightly better for you.
My Sister was looking at a MG ZS, she liked the car, but the boot is a bit small, for her Husband's wheelchair. The MG5 i presume has got a bigger boot, being an estate car, and a lower sill. And as for the bit of oomph you want, it's not exactly a snail, 0-60 In about 7.5 secs, is not to shabby at all! Don't dismiss an MG4 though, have a look and see if it would suit. Good luck. ??

I think the MG5 would be better too. Otherwise I have to turn the MG ZS or MG4 into a 2-seater van! ?

I have a friend who has a mobility scooter and she and her husband were anxious to find a car that would take the thing without having to take it completely to pieces. They had a Peugeot 308 but that would only take it with a complete dismantling.

Looking at my MG4, our conclusion was that it would need the same procedure as the Peugeot and probably wasn't suitable. In the end they bought a used VW Toureg, a diesel, on the principle that it was perfect, and since somebody was going to drive the car (it's only about three or four years old) it might as well be them until they found an EV that would do the job that's in their price range. The scooter only needs its backrest and handlebars folded in a bit to go in the VW.

Since they have a 16-panel FiT solar system facing due south over the English channel, I would have thought that the sooner they find the right EV, the better their household finances will be!
