Setting up MG4

I am new to the forum, new to automatics, new to electric cars, and just picked up my new MG4 this week. Needless to say I’m loving it and haven’t experienced any faults yet. As a new owner I would like to be able to find what is the latest version of software available so I can nag the dealer for an update when necessary. May be it would be useful to have that in the ‘Hints and Tips section?

For information my MG4 was built 12 Jan 2023 and arrived at the dealer about 4 April 2023. The MPU software is W169-29958-1100R16 and MCU is 69.1.0.9
Those are the only software versions you can see in the car. Drivers / owners don’t have access to the others.

Enjoy the car!

I had the MG4 as a courtesy car while my MG5 was having it's latches changed...couldn't work out how to operate a lot of things such as regen. thought the 5 was bad enough for hiding functions but the 4 is worse imho. But the rear wheel drive is nice no wheel spin. why they didn't make similar functions for both Vehicles a don't know.

I'd driven automatics before, but the MG4 is my first EV (and the first I'd ever driven). What I like about it is that it reacts like a classic automatic in that it creeps on "idle", whereas some other EVs are 1-pedal driving so lifting off the throttle brings you to a complete stop.
My ZS EV mk1 remembers settings on switch off so there is no need to resetup every drive. Far better. Most of the frequently used controls or settings are NOT within the media screen. Far far better. I had a test dyive in an MG4 and my ZS EV is better in every way barring range. I won't be swapping fir an MG 4 so it will probably be by by MG.

AEB is there for life saving, I don't buy the argument that 1-pedal is safer because for maximum braking you still have to shift pedals AND bring your foot significantly up to hit the brakes.

People can get used to 1-pedal but there's nothing intrinsically better about it. With the MG4, it is basically like 1-pedal by default just with a light application of the brakes to stop.

Using a manual gearbox and a clutch is also a perfectly fine option because we have two feet and two hands. Yes EVs are simpler and easier but once used to them, manual transmissions are fine.
Not if you can't use your left leg to operate the clutch!!
