What are their export rates?
Good luck on that - never again with EoN for ourselves.£600 for me over Eon Next Drive.![]()
They dont have an export tariff, I'm still waiting to hear from Octopus if they want to buy my export. What are their export rates?
Gadget Geek hasnt gone with EoN, he's signed up with Tomato.Good luck on that - never again with EoN for ourselves.
We will be finding out for sure over the next few months, the look and feel of Tomato is very much like Octopus so time will tell, I'm happy to take a hit for the forum to find outIt's an interesting thought. Octopus is a big company now. They have the overheads of a big company. They spend a lot on promotion. They just gave away three brand new cars. Could they even afford to get close to Tomato's prices if this develops into a real price war?
i personally don’t see that as an issue, no different to water, comms and energy being different companies.Presumably the fact they don't offer Gas will be off putting for some? Not sure I want a Gas supplier and an Electric supplier!
For properties without Gas supply looks good...
Fair point on the different utilities. We will be finding out for sure over the next few months, the look and feel of Tomato is very much like Octopus so time will tell, I'm happy to take a hit for the forum to find out

I'm leaving Eon and going to Tomato, which should save me around £600.Good luck on that - never again with EoN for ourselves.
email me your Octopus data and your tariff details and I can rattle it through my spreadsheet in no time and give you a figure.Fair point on the different utilities.
John, you could do a public service and build a tool so I can upload my smart meter data from Octopus and it can tell me how it would compare to Tomato that would be great
I don't quite understand how their standing charges can undercut other providers, thought these were more or less set by the regulator?

Tomato dont do export tariffs yet. I've just had the conversation with Octopus and they say I can still export to them and they will supply gas only on their tracker tariff which is perfect for me.Sorry for the Ignorance, but will you still export to octopus or switch over to Tomato?

CorrectDid a quick hunt for who Tomato actually are and it seems they were Logicor (the logistics company) and are now owned by CIC (China Investment Company).

Well done! I do hope it works out for all of us, I cant find any downside yet and my changeover happened yesterday, all good so far!Big shout out for @johnb80 (down with the kids)
I have now signed up to tomato, change over on the 6th. With John's assistance he worked out that I will be over £300 per year better off, and that is before the next new price cap as tomato is fixed for a year.
