So glad I got a long range.

If you want to fool yourself, and risk running out of charge because you believe it, do that.

If you've been driving fast in cold weather your range will go down. Good idea to factor this in when you decide which car to buy, so you don't find yourself coming up short in winter. The car knows all this and is giving you its best estimate based on recent driving conditions. It's a good idea to take this on board, not just press reset and imagine you suddenly have another 30-50 miles to play with.

Hello DaevM, it drops dramatically in cold weather, was it cold when you were charging?. I charged mine to 100% for the first time and it was something like 294 miles, it was 2 deg outside. The quoted WLTP figure is 323. I'm hoping it will be higher than that next summer?
The Trophy LR that wot I had did similar to yours.

Not happening.
99% of my driving is 20 mile round trips.
Too much range to be fair!
Oh and I'm not stupid enough to run out of charge.

But hey!

Thanks for your positivity. ??

Your range doesn't matter then. You can press reset as much as you like. But it's not a good idea to do this if you actually need a best estimate of your real range.

Your so right.
It doesn't.
And I do.
When I do go on a trip I build in a very hefty buffer as to not get caught out.
150 miles between stops is as much as I want to push it, besides always ready to have a brew and whizz anyway.
Range anxiety???...weak bladder?

Then this happens

I agree re fooling yourself but to run out of charge from a 100% charge start point would be absolute stupidity from a driver's point of view. The GOM would have adjusted the range long before that and anyone that ignores that would be stupid.
A charging stop could be planned on the hoof long before that.

Never once ran out of charge on a long trip even with charging as an when the need arises

That's true, but why do people want to see an unrealistically long range shown on the GOM anyway?

Because it makes you feel good.

Ooo, look what my car is proposing.

What a clever car.

So what if the the car is lying to you?

No different from the Government lying to you?

Best thing about the car though?

You don't have to wait 4 bloody years to get shot of it!

Nothing Burger IMO.
Just be aware of the deceit within and you will be fine.

(If your sensible which most of us are)

It's all good. Been driving EV for 5 years now, 4 of which were in a 30kWh battery vehicle, all year round with a 500 mile round trip every 6 weeks, recharging every 50 miles, so the MG4 is a real treat. My bladder gives out far sooner than my battery charge.
This weekend I am driving Hayle - Wolverhampton - Oswestry- Hayle ( down through centre of Wales ) . I am fully aware of the vagaries of GOM.
Reset it this a.m. at the beginning of the trip, having been doing local 30mph trips all summer. GOM gave me 295@ 100%. Was going to go for trying maxing out range but realised it wasn't going to happen, so went to the other end of the scale and hammered it up here. Obviously the resultant figures of 200 miles @ 100%(ish) are based on that ( and much lower temps) . Still loving Tesla chargers ( and the car) . Will make the whole journey with every charge being Tesla apart from that one above, instavolt on electroverse, so quite smug about that.

I can't stop the government lying to me. You are asking the car to lie to you, when it's doing its little best to tell you the truth.

Make your mind up!

Unrealistic in one post, but trying to tell you the truth in another!

What's it to be?
No, don't answer that.
I'm not interested.
I got wore out watching you argue the toss with another member on here a few weeks ago!

In the immortal words of Duncan Bannatyne.... I'm out.

It's unrealistic if you reset it. If you leave it to do its own thing, it's trying to be realistic

Realistic or not what does it matter, only an absolute idiot would push their luck with any fuel type of car.
GOMs adjust as you drive not that it matters, everyone should have an idea of their cars capabilities and plan accordingly.
