So, Long Range you say ?

Well, yes. I just don't see the point of resetting the system just to see a range you know you aren't going to get.
Makes no odds even if you don't reset a long motorway drive is going to cause it to recalibrate it's guess anyway, the motorway drive isn't going to be reflective of your recent past drives (unless you do it every other day) as long as you know how far you've got to go and you know roughly in you miles per kWh what the car is doing, who cares what the GOM thinks.

Then this happens

I work out my mileage range in my head thinking about what speed I'll be going and what the temperature is. I know from last Winter I get as low as 2.7mls/kWh on a long 70mph cruise, so look for charging stations around the 150 mile range.

Just finished a 650 mile round trip in 15 hours, somewhat hammering it for at least 50% of the time. Recharging at home to 100% tonight. Will let you know how it's looking tomorrow

I drove my SE LR yesterday, using about 30% (had the heater on and drove normally) of the battery and today as I’m charging it, it’s saying an estimated range of 268 miles which is significantly higher than yours. ?
203 miles @ 100% which demonstrates well how the GOM can only work with historical data. I'll reset it now and potter about at 30mph for a month and it'll go back up to 295 ( which it was showing before I went on the high speed (ish) road trip.
Largely pointless facility - more gimmicky in my view than useful.
I just follow how much I've got left in real time and always recharge in good time. Not a problem ??

As you say more of a gimmick, using the current kWh figure on a trip is a more accurate reflection

I actually find it very useful in real time. I set my destination in Android Auto as the next charger I'm heading for, so I have the infotainment screen counting down the miles to the charger and the driver's screen showing the remaining range. If I don't like the way these two numbers match up I ease off the speed for a bit, or if it's a marked discrepancy, change the destination to a closer charger.

If I reset the trip counter before I set off I know the car will present me with an unrealistic range. (If I'm doing this, I'm usually belting down the motorway.) But by the time I'm anywhere near the charger it will have caught up and be realistic again.

I wonder if it’s because I hardly do any motorway driving and as it’s relatively hilly around these parts I get a fair amount of regenerative braking. The figure your car is giving you (203 miles) sounds extremely low for this time of year.

Charged my 23 plate Trophy LR to its monthly 100% yesterday and the GOM said 238 miles.
It's been averaging 3.9 mi/kWh so it looks about right (3.9 x 61.7=240).

No need to potter about for a month. 1 x 6 mile trip at an average 15mph and a reset has got it heading back up to reasonable @ 275 miles ??
No surprises there then.

I've been charting our 100% SOC range estimate to show how it varies depending on what driving we've been doing and changes in conditions. This is for 64 kWh Essence (Trophy) model.

It's no different to the range estimates in ICEVs we've had for donkey's years which are also based on recent fuel economy.

If the daily commute is say 50 miles for whole day, why are they complaining about range when each night you can top it up before each commute. And having say a spare 100 miles of charge surely is not such a problem for many in the UK!
