Hi,
I took the ZS Hybrid for a test drive and it was great… except for an alarm sound that kept going off.

It wasn’t the nice gentle speed limit chimes (can these be turned off) it was crazy loud and I was about to pull over and call the dealership when it stopped. No lights on the dash.

Dealer suggested it was a “driver alertness” alarm that uses a camera to monitor the driver. Can anyone shed any light on this? I wear glasses and the dealer suggested this might be the issue? ie the camera can’t see my eyes?

Any experiences or knowledge appreciated as the car ticks all the other boxes and I’m ready to buy.

Nothing in the manual or Google search of similar.

Thanks

It's very likely an alarm telling you that you are approaching a speed camera. It can be turned off in the Sat nav settings. The dealer dosen't know what they are talking about. They should be made to study the car before selling it.

Thanks for the advice but there were no speed cameras. First time it went off was when I was in a small queue for a traffic island that led onto a dual carriage way. I thought it might Lane monitoring as there’s lots of white lines on the island but I turned that off and it still went off again later.
I did discover that the volume of the alert was adjusted by turning down the navigation volume.

Are you sure you’re not exceeding the speed limit? Every time you exceed it, you get 3 chimes. You can turn it off, but you have to do this every time you start the engine. It’s a legal requirement. I soon got used to it and it’s better than getting done 🤔.

Yep. It was Very different to the gentle speed limit chimes.

Thanks. How would the car know there was a plain clothes speed camera?.
It also went off while pulling into a supermarket car park.
Anyone experienced this alarm to actually give me a clue what it was?

The camera electronically connects/recognizes the police equipment in the same way it connects with road signs and/or ordinary speed cameras I would suggest. There is an explanation, you just have to find it. It's all clever stuff.

Im sure it doesn't have that advanced system as even to buy aftermarket it's quite expensive, no car comes from factory with what you are daying. That has to be a radar detector.

It can go off when approaching traffic lights on red and travelling pretty quick, when it goes off try slowing down a bit and see what happens. Pointless trying to turn it off in settings it just comes back on again when back in vehicle, very annoying but got to admit I'm impressed with all the safety features. Be prepared for when a car approaches from a side street your car doesn't realise that it's going to stop so it carries out an emergency stop and when you don't realise what's happening it's quite scary.

I had this alarm. Its super loud and at strange places. Rang the dealer and it was a warning from the satnav about hazardous roads. Turned the notifications off and it is now fine. You will see hazardous indicators on the satnav this was when the siren went off 👍😀

Had this same issue when I first got mine. Loud beeping (not excess speed warning) and seemed to go on forever. Took it to the dealer. He tried to explain it to me, but I hadn`t got a clue what he was talking about. Said it was something to do with the speed limits. Anyway , he managed to sort it and I haven`t had any issues since.

Definitely the speed camera warning. I was driving on the m25 and it kept going off I ended up pulling into the services as it was doing my head in and read up what it could be. I thought it was the take a break warning but it started again as I was driving. I then tried turning the speed camera warning off and it hasn't done it since

Have you tried Copilot A.I. ?

I have that car and I haven’t had that problem at all. I wear glasses. I would suggest going through each feature and tweaking it. Including going to Satnav warnings and making them to your liking.
